I'm not overly thrilled with Ikea's couches.
I know people say they don't last -- but I have adults, no children, and pets. I figure 500.00 for a couch should last me 5+ years
See, I can live with this. I think I paid 300-400 for my current couch, which I bought in 2000. Close to 10 years is a good run, I say.

Grumble grumble grumble.
Microsuede is a cinch to clean, but I don't know how badly the cats might scratch it up.
IkeaMy Ikea couch is the bane of my life. So uncomfortable after a year or so.
World Market has a lot of their furniture on sale right now. (Yes, I did go out and spend way too much money on a leather recliner yesterday. Why isn't it here yet?!)

I have friends who were told it was the thing to get if you have animals, but they find it very hard to get the hair off of it.
I got my couch at a Sears clearance/outlet store about 6-7 years ago. It's incredibly comfortable still, but the cats have picked at it. (Actually, it was attacked by Picp on retailliation for me bringing home another cat and not since.)
We bought a couch last year (DH's choice) and I HATES it. And now we can find one that we can agree on. So we're stuck with this shitty couch until we can find something we both can live with.
Grumble away, Teppy! My sister in grumbling!
I'd like a new couch, but what's the point. We'll just trash it. We can't have nice things until a Certain Little Boy Learns to Use the Potty at Home Too. Ahem.
Did anyone see Where the Wild Things Are? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
My ice-skating purchases for Noah are done. They include two pairs of skates in two different sizes (Bauer skates, natch....) and a hockey helmet since he's not allowed on the ice (IMO) without headgear.
Inspired by David, I made stew today. It took way longer than I'd normally like because We Did It Right (browned beef slowly with plenty of room, used bacon, made roux, baked in the oven for 90 minutes... it was delicious. I tried the sausage trick but we only had turkey so maybe it wasn't the perfect choice. I did use chipotle powder and smoked paprika which are the BOMB. And I threw in some cheese rinds. All in all, very tasty.

I love my Ikea couch. I've had it for three years, and it's still comfy enough to fall asleep on. Which I do a lot.

Meh.
My microsuede chair doesn't catch cat hair, but mine are shorthairs. I've sworn off cheap couches since my last one got its frame broken. I have this couch now: [link] which is a corduroy-like microfiber that is also resistant to our shorthairs -- I don't even think they can get scratches on it.
