I'd like a new couch, but what's the point. We'll just trash it. We can't have nice things until a Certain Little Boy Learns to Use the Potty at Home Too. Ahem.
Did anyone see Where the Wild Things Are? Good? Bad? Indifferent?
My ice-skating purchases for Noah are done. They include two pairs of skates in two different sizes (Bauer skates, natch....) and a hockey helmet since he's not allowed on the ice (IMO) without headgear.
Inspired by David, I made stew today. It took way longer than I'd normally like because We Did It Right (browned beef slowly with plenty of room, used bacon, made roux, baked in the oven for 90 minutes... it was delicious. I tried the sausage trick but we only had turkey so maybe it wasn't the perfect choice. I did use chipotle powder and smoked paprika which are the BOMB. And I threw in some cheese rinds. All in all, very tasty.
My Ikea couch is the bane of my life. So uncomfortable after a year or so.
I love my Ikea couch. I've had it for three years, and it's still comfy enough to fall asleep on. Which I do a lot.

Meh.
My microsuede chair doesn't catch cat hair, but mine are shorthairs. I've sworn off cheap couches since my last one got its frame broken. I have this couch now: [link] which is a corduroy-like microfiber that is also resistant to our shorthairs -- I don't even think they can get scratches on it.
Yeah, my old couch has a similar fabric from what I can tell and while it did pick up hair it basically wiped off with a sweep of your hand. It's a sofa bed from Jennifer, and oh so comfy.
Did I tell you guys about how when I asked at Jennifer about getting one of their loveseats in a different color, they said it would take 12-16 weeks??!?! I had no idear.
Fuck. I just folded to being bank-of-sara again. When I can and can't afford it. (Budget=shot. Bank account=NSM.)
I have sort of expensive taste, but I don't mind other people owning stuff before me. I've pretty much purchased everything for my two bedroom on Craigslist, the majority of it being from Crate and Barrel. I'd like a new couch, and look at Craigslist daily for exactly what I want. The hard part is lining up a way to get it home, especially since I don't have anyone close who can help move it into my house even if I can get it home.
Yes, it is. That's its biggest drawback, IMO.
Chikat, if I do the fix that's recommended, and it works, I'll email you the info. It involves filling in the gussets with 5/16s clear tubing from the hardware store. And the other thing that causes so much of the noise is an apparently hollow casing for the sidemirrors. That can be filled with either putty or foam insulation.
Tep, we got our leather couch for $110 on Craig's List. It's served us well for the last almost 5 years. (Holy crap, my kid will be FIVE SOON. We got the couch when I was pregnant.)
Yay Tom for the fun evening. Fun is good.
Kat, I really liked Where the Wild Things Are. I know this sounds like a strange thing to say of a movie where most of the cast are CGI monsters, but I found it very human.
DH says James Gandolfini was miscast. My biggest gripe was that his monster was named Carol, not Moishe.

I do have access to a truck. And I can probs find cheap labor, if it comes to that. (Ask megan!)
