"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I believe that thinking many devices, and the "it's a dream" one in particular are inherently flawed is more of an indication that you shouldn't write one, Hec, than that no one should write one.

Naw, nobody should write them. They suck.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

what would you do with flying monkeys? Are we safe?

YOU people are safe. But I do have a list of other people.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

I need to go back and read what y'all wrote about Trek, but I just saw it. So many lens flares. So much stupid.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I started to feel sad about not going to see a Trek movie in the theatre, but then I remembered that refusing to pay a penny for Nemesis is a decision that I've never regretted for one instant.

I think that's the most important aspect of whether or not a twist works.

This is what bugs me about Shyamalan. He seems to me to throw in twists for twists' sake, and it's now a mentality I've seen become somewhat common among some writers. I'm of the opinion that it's okay to just tell a story, and not have to try to turn everything on its ear, deconstruct it, or turn it around just for the sake of doing so.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

So many lens flares. So much stupid.

This.

Thrive to spite them

This makes me worried for the Star Wars movies. I've thought for awhile that someone needed to take them away from Lucas and try something else. But ... the idea of JJ Abrams doing Star Wars or even another Star Trek just fills me with dread instead of excitement.

I don't get Abrams obsession/overuse of lens flare. It's like his Jar Jar Binks.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I saw FF6 this morning. If you're not a fan of the franchise, this won't make you one. If you're not a fan of Dwayne Johnson either, there's not much for you.

But if you are a fan of car stunts, there's both excellent and impossible to be seen--and there is some TOTAL impossibility. It went all the way past laughing into applause during the movie, though.

AND THERE WILL BE A SEVEN!!!!!

Everyone is remarkably stupid in this movie, but it's refreshing to totally understand what the bad guy was trying to do--motivation 120% clear, no questions to ask there.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I'm trying to talk Beau into seeing FF6. He is not buying it. I haven't seen all the films, so maybe I need to do that first?

The ads completely sold me.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I saw it this morning and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

But if you are a fan of car stunts, there's both excellent and impossible to be seen--and there is some TOTAL impossibility. It went all the way past laughing into applause during the movie, though.

I'm pretty sure everyone in this movie is superhuman. Also, while it didn't match the climax of Fast Five, it was still a wonderful moment when I realized THEY DRAGGED A PLANE DOWN WITH THEIR CARS.

it's refreshing to totally understand what the bad guy was trying to do--motivation 120% clear, no questions to ask there.

Well, clearly he wanted the MacGuffin to sell for money, but I did raise an eyebrow at his tank joyride where he was RUNNING OVER DOZENS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE. There were a lot of points where it seemed like there was a lot of implied death for a PG-13 movie. Like when the plane blew up, I presume the pilot and such died, but they were bad guys so I guess it's fine. I'm still scratching my head over all the fucking people he must have killed with that tank.

I had a feeling that Giselle wasn't going to make it since she wasn't in Tokyo Drift and also they were telegraphing it pretty hard and also she was way more badass in this movie than the last one. Maybe she will come back from the dead! We didn't see a body!

AND THERE WILL BE A SEVEN!!!!!

Yesssssss. With Jason Statham! Let's just get everybody in this thing!

I'm trying to talk Beau into seeing FF6. He is not buying it. I haven't seen all the films, so maybe I need to do that first?

I mean, you don't have to, but I recommend it because they're a lot of fun. This movie does carry the history/future of all five previous movies.
