Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Well, Seska, this metaphor happens to be a Nilly metaphor. I mean, the idea that what's gonna happen in the A vs. C might is realistic, yet, not fair.
And, by mere coincidence, I'm have to read Rawls' "Justice as Fairness: A Restatement" for my next philosophy class.
Good luck with the moving and telling people what to do! I might not be in a wheelchair, but I find it hard to do sometimes, too.
I uninstalled kubuntu (LOVED it, but couldn't reason with it. 3 days after installing it and 9 hours into playing with features, I still couldn't find how to make computee accept Hebrew typing. Found Korean, though), and I'll try to install ubuntu, GNOME type next week instead. Because I hate working with the Vista, and I believe in the Open Source principles.

Oh, I seriously have to read Rawls. He keeps being recommended, but I have so much on my reading lists (academic and fiction) that I haven't got round to it.
Ooh, but that reminds me - I should get an audiobook for the train home. I love Audible.
How tricky is working with platforms like ubuntu? Vista makes me crazy too, but I'm easily confused.

I'm actually quite good at telling people what to do. It comes from several years of using personal support assistants. They get used to my grouchy-ness, too. (None of them has resigned yet, so I can't be *that* bad... Probably...)
Hil, I can't imagine any reason why this student should get a different grade, or the chance to retry.
Unless I misunderstand the situation, he's saying "Oh, I'd have tried harder if I knew I might not get the mark I wanted."
Sorry, that's bollocks. Surely to God you
try your hardest,
and if you don't, then you suck it up. Saying "Oh, I
could
have done better easily, but I
actively decided
to just aim for something less than my best, because I was under the impression that was all I needed to do" is...not so much a convincing kind of argument, imho.

Supposed to be easy peasy. It's a hell of a lot more friendly, and more like gaming and fun than programming (though I'm not sure I'm getting anywhere), and I'm known as a Computer Murderer by Mere Presence. They tend to die when I'm around them for too long.
I'm actually quite good at telling people what to do
... and you get them to listen to you, too? And do as they were told? And learn from past mistakes? Really?
People, I vote Seska to be the boss of us.
Right, time to go out and meet my unavoidable fate: statistics.

It helps that they're being paid. But yes, I have them very well trained.
OK. Doctor's appt; train home; packing packing packing.
Who the hell aims for a 70 on their final? Or on any test?
It may be more a time management thing. If you know you don't have as much time as you need for all your subjects, you need to plan where to allocate the shortfall for minimum damage.
I'm still sceptical of Hil's student, though, as his complaint seems to rest on him being just that good a judge of what mark he'd get for the effort he put in. (I think there's a bit of interpreting things after the fact going on.) And, importantly, he was explicitly told the previous values were only estimates.
Phew
The creepy right-wing guy who stared at me in the computer farm and came on to me with transparent statistics questions left without further communication. Thank God, didn't wanna start a political argument. And yeah, his political approach (all over his t-shirt - can't miss) makes him creepy, not his actions.
Also? Guess who's about to finish with her statistics homework? And it took less than 20 minutes! It's a record!
Yay, Shir, pwning the stats homework.
Good luck with the packing supervision, Seska. (Is it terribly wrong of me to wonder when your true Kardasian evil is going to show up?)
