Has the oral surgeon told you what to expect? Because recovery from wisdom teeth extraction is no big thing that's going to derail your life.

Everyone was telling me horror stories!! I don't know what to expect. He told me to stock up on everything beforehand so I wouldn't have to deal with shopping after the surgery. He said I'd be sore for a few days and I'd have to wash my mouth out after everything I ate and all that. I'm probably making it out to be worse than it will be, I hope.

Wisdom tooth (teeth) extraction doesn't have to be a major trauma. If the teeth are badly impacted it will be worse, but if they've erupted it's not so bad. I had all four fully erupted teeth extracted at once and I was OK to have lunch with friends (soft food, but not soup). My sister had a bad experience, but she had badly impacted teeth and had a reaction to the anaesthetic. So ... YExtractionMV.

Here are the things I learned through trial and error after my extraction: tomato soup is too acidic and hurts. Shakes and drinks are actually not a good idea, as they flood your mouth and hit the extraction point and hurt. Stuff you can eat with a spoon and not have to chew is good. Stock up on pudding, soup, cottage cheese, and that sort of stuff. Scrambled eggs? Good. Toast? Bad. Bananas? Good. Apples? Bad.

Avacado? Mush it into guac.

Although, if the parts for a food processor that get washed can be dishwashed

They can, at least mine ( a Black & Decker I picked up at Target) can. My blender parts all go in the dishwasher, also, except the rubber gasket, which I don't mind washing by hand because it is tiny and doesn't really get dirty.

I miss my toaster oven, but not enough to get another one. Counters are pretty full as it is.

You can make a wonderfully fattening dip by cutting an avocado in half, removing the pit, scoring the flesh, putting crumbled blue cheese in the pit hole, pouring a bit of blue cheese dressing over it all, and then baking in a 350F oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the blue cheese starts to brown. Then scoop out the goodness onto crackers or toast rounds.

I don't think I even needed to take painkillers after my wisdom teeth were pulled, and I know a lot of people who were the same way.

The way this is going, I will order a pizza Friday night and wonder what I'm going to do with all that yogurt and soup and pudding.

Okay, 100 teeth would be weird. But still. I stand by my love of pudding.
