Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Thank you, Plei!

I have been worrying that my hair is just getting damaged from the regular coloring. When I was younger I colored my hair every 3 or 4 months so it didn't matter. But now the color gets dingy once the greys start to show, so I color more often.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

sj, if you have a relationship with the mother or sister, then you can slip your concerns into conversation just so they are aware of your perspective... however, I don't know if one can be forced into psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, if she's adamant she doesn't have a problem.

You can call her out on what you are hearing from her- be direct, maybe the lightbulb will pop on. You can tell her how uncomfortable and worried YOU are about her.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Thanks, Nora. I know I can't force her. She doesn't really sound adamant against getting help, just sort of "yeah, sure, whatever..." types of reactions. The text she just sent said everything sucks and she can't take it anymore. I don't think she is suicidal, but if she doesn't answer her phone soon, I'm going to have to do something. I've known her family since I was little, so yeah, they know me.

cereal to add: {{sj}} I know it's frustrating to feel this helpless. When I was in a similar situation I got very angry as well, and was pulled into her psychodrama and I eventually had to cut her off, because sure, she could choose to live unhealthily, but I could choose if I got dragged down in it.

Um, but it sucked, and it's hard of course. Last resort measures. Hopefully being honest and supportive will work in your situation.

She's never cut me off in all my years of depressiveness, despite how much I know it often sucked for her. I can't cut her off either.

Maybe not the best move, but I sent her an e-mail saying I need to hear from her within the next hour or I'm calling everyone I know in the city in which she lives to check on her. She knows I'm crazy enough to do it, so unless she is really in trouble, she'll get back to me.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

sj, I hope she's okay and things go well.

Humm. You remind me. I wanted to go henna-red again. But what cassia is, exactly?

Cassia = senna. It's another plant-based conditioner.

She responded to my e-mail, and she says she is ok right now. I'm still trying to encourage her to talk to her doctor about everything.
