[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My officemate today was musing on why it's so "trendy" to be an oppressed minority. He says that everyone is claiming to be oppressed.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

He says that everyone is claiming to be oppressed.

Oh, well, think of all the benefits.

Hold on, I'm still thinking...

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Ooh! Ooh! Where does the line to oppress him begin?

He says that, since he's Irish/German/Italian/Catholic, he would have been in "some of the most oppressed groups" at various points in US history.

Yeah, that's at least two squares on the racism bingo card.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Sounds like CJ is going through the normal stuff. Teenagers sleep harder in the AM. Have another friend that was complaining about it. Sadly, earlier bed time doesn't help -- they might not sleep early ( I didn't). So -- I recommend what everyone else said -- get everything ready at night - even if it means staying up a little later. And then tell CJ that missing school is not an option. Then -- figure out what the best way to get him up is. Alarm across the room -- mom yelling -- mom turning on the lights in his room -- dog or cat on the bed.

In my case dad woke me up by opening the door sying get up - turning on the light -- and making me talk. Mom put the dog in my bed and sang. None of it was fun, but if CJ helps you figure it out then maybe he'll figure out how to get dressed and eat breakfast while still asleep faster than I did.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

Sub Italian for Czech, and paint me as on oppressed group. Chalk up the disability for modern oppression, and give me a ticket to the head of the line.

Yeah, and centuries ago I could have been executed for apostasy. Whatever.

brillig

I always wanted to be an oppressed minority as a kid because they got extra toys at Christmas. No, I was not very highly evolved as a child. But man, I was jealous when the church choir I was in sang at the Salvation Army at Christmas, because of the pile of cool toys. I sometimes wonder how I managed to live so long so totally unaware of things.
