Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

When it gets really hot I run wet hands or a washcloth over the cat. When the cat that found water evil did nothing more than a mild meow in protest -- I assume it helped.

yay for sorta date and good job news. may they both be worth any worries and grow into better things.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Update: I used the Mother's Room and had a nice half hour nap. Aaaaaah.

CRAP.

My most humble apologies.

I am greatly vexed if I caused anyone difficulties with that last stupid link-fail of mine. :(

I'll just stop now.

(I fixed the link - and tested it first.)

I'm having one of those lives. Can I get a do-over?

How about a nap?

Not while I'm at work. Or doing mandatory overtime. Naps = firings. (Watched it happen, even.)

Oh, good point.

Maybe this will cheer you up a bit: I just (finally!) got the soundtrack to Something Wicked This Way Comes, and yes, you're getting a copy of it from me.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

re: heat insanity - reassuring news from a self-proclaimed cat expert at work: cats evolved in the deserts of the middle east and therefore i should not be overly concerned about feline heat exhaustion.

When I lived in Arizona, with indoor-outdoor cats and no real air conditioning, if the cats got to the point of panting, I would give them canned food greatly watered down, or cool chicken broth. I also would wipe them down with a damp cloth as beth has already mentioned. Typically the panting would stop within 20 minutes of those first aid measures. If it would have gone on too long, in spite of treatment, I would have contacted my veterinarian (i.e. called, because the vets out there were pretty good about giving home care instructions whenever possible).

These are signs that the heat has truly gotten to be too much for the feline in question, and that it is time for emergency veterinary care:

"If your pet is overheating, he will appear sluggish and unresponsive. He may appear disorientated. The gums, tongue and conjunctiva of the eyes may be bright red and he will probably be panting hard. He may even start vomiting. Eventually he will collapse, seizure and may go into a coma." >[link]
