You like ships. You don't seem to be looking at the destinations. What you care about is the ships, and mine's the nicest.

Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I guess I didn't think it would be a red flag if she'd presented the story as "Here's a stupid thing I did when I was 18."

“Not dead yet!”

We all have stuff we're embarrassed about in our past-- it makes us human. I think the thing that gives me pause is that she's mentioning it in such an offhand sort of way, which is how it came across to me in omnis' recounting. Certainly, if I was in the early days of what I thought might be a potential relationship, this is not something I'd be bringing up in an offhand manner, but rather, if it came up at all, in a "Wow, I was really freakin' stupid" sort of way.

It just seems like a strange thing to be bringing up, I guess. I mean, I know you want someone to like you warts and all, but that's not how it came across to me.

Long-winded way of saying, context is definitely important here.

I think I'm going to adopt erica's statement: I'd rather date a furry than a neocon.

Can you respect her, omnis? Do you think she'll respect your ethical and political and religious beliefs? Because if not, then I'd say scrap this one and keep looking.

Ann, that's a ferret.

It is likely that many of us would rather not be judged on the folly of youth. I have done seriously inappropriate things and believe I have learned from past mistakes.

Same here. Ultimately, I sit with the "there's a difference between 'stupid think I did when I was 18' and 'here's how I gamed the system for fun and profit'" crowd. But my college indiscretions, pretty much by definition, all happened more than 20 years ago.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Cindy, much ~ma to your family.

I am having a very bad no-good day. The only thing that is keeping me from going home and crawling into bed is that I will be meeting up with Buffistas after work. Also, since I lost my train pass, I would have to buy a ticket.

Our wings are not tired.

Ugh, I hope the day takes a turn for the better.

Sorry about your loss Cindy.

I don't know Omnis, if you feel you can openly and comfortably talk about your opinions and beliefs with her maybe it can be okay. If you find yourself biting your tongue and/or being uncomfortable, then it's no good.
