Occasionally I’m callous and strange

Thanks! Cats were locked in the bathroom so i got to sleep in. Mmmmmm, sleep! Best possible start to any day. I love my mom, a lot. But totally typical morning phone call from her. (Backstory: she bought me a netbook for my birthday! OMG! Jumping up and down in excitement!) Woke up to voicemail from her to make sure and call her BEFORE opening anything. Kay. Thus ensued 2 hours and 14 minutes on the phone because she found one she likes better and wants to return the one in an amazon box on my dining room table but needed to talk over all the differences btwn the two before should could make the decision.

Me? I'm happy with pretty much anything and have no strong opinion on the matter. Would have been overjoyed with the one i'm about to ship back to amazon (*sniff*) but it was really really imporant to her to make this change. Mostly because she wants me to try it out first, then get one for herself and have me help her set it up.

Oh yes, i adore my mother, but really was expecting more of a 20 minutes phone call with lots of excited sounds as i opened boxes, not checking consumer reports online while she read through new egg reviews.

Now i'm trying to decide the best air conditioned place to go and read for a couple hours before seeing the new Harry Potter movie because birthday is my only excuse for a trip to a first- run cinema ;P

Oh, and fantastic birthday bonus: free cupcakes!!!!! Agreed to purchase a half dozen choc/pomegranates from a local baker, and ended up heading home with a mixed dozen, including red velvet w/ cream cheese frosting, spice cake w/ cream cheese frosting, and choc chip cupcake w/ mocha frosting. Sugar coma en route!!!!

Oooh, sounds like a delicious food coma, Erin!! Nom!

I indeed had breakfast at the chocolate shop (which recently started doing brunch) with Kristin--she let me eat half her nutella and banana crepe. Mmmmmm.

Am now back from the airport, but am going to head back thataways to meet a friend to see Harry Potter (friend lives way south of town)

In the future, let me know when you are ready for a move! I like to have you on our team when we go after more of these theaters as a design-build entity!

...that's a good thing! Write back saying where you're working now and what you're doing, but you'd love to keep in touch and if they have extra freelance work (if you're interested) or that you know great people, or whatever ever. It's networking!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy birthday, erin! Yay cupcakes! And netbook, when you eventually get the right one. And sleep!

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

I made this really great salad for supper - romaine, blueberries, walnuts and almonds, tomatoes, and cheese. But I'm sitting here with goose bumps on my arms, wishing I had het up a can of soup.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Happy birthday, erin!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Why am I so hungry today? I have done pretty much nothing other than sit on the couch and nap, and I've eaten a reasonable amount of food, and I still feel really hungry. I just ate a peach and an apple -- hope I can maybe fill up on healthy food.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart
