My mother is all worried about what I'm going to eat in Maine. She somehow thinks that, although I manage to feed myself the entire rest of the year, I'm going to starve from lack of vegan food in Maine, even though we will be renting a house with a kitchen which is within walking distance of a tiny grocery store and easy driving distance of a few supermarkets at at least two health food stores. I've also pointed out to her the vegan items on the menus of nearly all the restaurants we usually go to.

In yet another "How am I related to these people?" conversation, I was telling my dad about Farm Sanctuary. He asked if the animals get along with each other, or if any of them ever decide that another one looks like lunch.
FARM animals. Cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, goats, sheep, and so on. No carnivores among them.
(My sister definitely inherited this complete obliviousness to all things animal-related. She has several times looked at a cow and thought it was a horse.)
