There's a second reason for SyFy - that's how it's most-commonly-twittered.
I kid you not, and I do not make it up. However, I can no longer find the web-release from the-old-SciFi to back this up, so you can assume I'm lying.
I remember the same article. I think the reason given was it was the way most commonly searched for on the internet rather than specifically Twitter, but either way it seems like a network caving to illiteracy.
I love it when the media caves to the lowest common denominator. We as a society are DOOMED! We need that Isle pronto. Must be isolated from the mainlands. Independent sources of energy and food. And a well stocked library!
I am not watching Torchwood, because my g/f isn't home (she travels *way* too much) until Saturday, and we're going to watch the whole lot together.
This is taking a significant amount of willpower...
Dissertation supervisor is happy with the work I've been doing. Ergo, I am going to eat and watch TV for a bit. Which still feels like slacking off, all the same.
Does anyone know why SciFi channel changed to SyFy?
Because girls are scared of the letter i. We feel much more comfortable watching a channel with a soft curvy logo. We are also scared of spaceships and loud noises, which will also be banned from the network henceforth.
(Bitter? Me?)
(Also, only half-kidding about the above reasoning. The only thing that kept me from walking up to David Howe and punching him in the crotch at upfronts was the open bar.)
There's a second reason for SyFy - that's how it's most-commonly-twittered.
In their press release they quoted a "typical male viewer" as saying "If I was texting, that's how I would spell it!" I call bullshit and will EAT my iPhone if it turns out that this ridiculous statement was made by anyone other than a marketing hack.
Sy Fy can be trademarked or copyrighted or whatever's applicable, and Sci Fi cannot. It's brand control.
Coming soon - The Fud Network! The Travelle Channel! ARGH.
(See above, re: not bitter.)
Does anyone know why SciFi channel changed to SyFy?
To annoy a large part of their audience?
The only thing that kept me from walking up to David Howe and punching him in the crotch at upfronts was the open bar.
Now, see, in my case, the open bar would INCREASE the likeliness of violence against stupidity, but that's just how I roll.
Dear doG it is just insanely beautiful here.
So. Jealous. Seventeen years ago that Lewis and I went on that cruise and I'm still plotting ways to go back.
Kristin, lovely dress. And may things go well for your grandmother.
In other news, I'd love this if I could get into it. However, it struck me there might be a Buffista who could. Compliments of/to Erin of A Dress A Day.
And, for those of you heading to DC, the weather here has been remarkably pleasant for July. It's been in the 80s and comparatively non-humid. Of course, this is scheduled to change this weekend, but ....
Oh, another way to confuse young children is to tell them the moon is following them.
Oh, Mal figured that one out all on his own, back when he was 2. Which is to say, he noticed that the moon was following him...he didn't figure out why.
