My hair tends to curl in bizarre directions. The only things that work is to keep it very short, or very long in a ponytail.
I haven't done the ponytail thing since I moved to Chicago 13 years ago. Something about the ponytail + receding hairline thing doesn't seem right to me....
Oooh! Check out the Teppylicious corset!
EEEEEEEE!!! Teppy MUST have that corset!
Ah, would that I had a 20-something waistline.
ZOMG, i love that more than life. Except, um, still can't afford it. I would, however, wear a 12 if anyone wins the lottery and wants to buy me something shiny and lovely for my birthday.
I think my father scared me away from short hair for life. One of his great sadnesses is that both of his wives cut their hair short just after marriage.
Having had near-waist length hair most of my life (until chopping it all off and donating to charity a few years ago), i didn't bother paying anyone to trim my hair. Just waited until it got difficult to comb/brush (about once a year) and then would carry around barber shears after washing my hair and ask reasonably trust worthy people to trim it for me while it was still wet. Never took more than 10 minutes, just snip snip across the bottom.
When i asked mom for a trim, she'd take off an inch and a half. When i asked dad to trim off an inch or two he'd take of MAYBE 1/8". Didn't even touch the split ends. And then he'd sniff about it. I learned pretty fast to not ask dad for a trim!
(once i let the drunken wardrobe mistress "trim" my hair and she cut off 3 inches, the beeyotch.)
Plei, I want to start using henna. Any suggestions? I've developed an allergy to the chemical dyes, and they're ruining my hair. My hair's naturally v. dark brown with undertones of red, and now about 40% grey. The last dye job was way too dark. I'm thinking of dying it red from now on, so that the gray will become red and the black will stay black. It'll either look cool and strange, or just weird and awful.
Henna will make the grey very coppery. You can probably start switching right away -- I would suggest doing what I did when I switched, which is henna applications once a week or so for three weeks until the color build up blends things in. Keep in mind, the color will continue to deepen for about 3 days after application.
I mentioned to DH that I was thinking of chopping all my hair off (easier to color, off my neck, etc) and he made his usual noncomittal noise. I finally pressed him into an opinion - he swears up and down that I've *always* known he likes long hair (but doesn't want to tell me what to do with mine). I'm still pretty sure this was the first time he's told me out loud.
I love the stripey corset! I wonder how something like that would look over a white dress for the elopement. I keep putting off buying something because I keep thinking I'll lose weight.
sj, if you've got the right body type to rock a Trashy Diva dress (which you surely do, as you proved on Prom night), IMO you almost certainly have the right body type to rock a corset too, even if you never lose an ounce.

Yeah, if anything, corsetry means never having to say "I can't choose this unless I lose this bit right here". Plus, as we all know, hawt.
