[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I AM BEING HAZZED BY A KRISTIN!

(That's grammatically correct in LOLcat, right?)

(Also, I really am going to bed. Just as soon as I'm caught up online.)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Thanks, WindSparrow. I think I'll do that. I didn't know there was pre-op blood work that should be done, and this vet didn't mention it. I've just got that gut "don't do it" feeling that I've learned not to ignore.

Yeah, I was in on the infamous cat food discussion! I am totally against feeding cats grain. This cat's never eaten anything but Wellness and occasionally other no-grain canned cat food, and mostly eats canned food now that he's with me. (Previous owner also fed Wellness, but only dry food. If there's anything wrong with his mouth, I suspect that's why. Kibble doesn't clean teeth; it shatters and gets stuck between.)

This is what makes me think this teeth-cleaning isn't exactly an emergency. The teeth are fine. The vet says there's some inflammation of the gums, but I didn't see it. Cat's only a year and a half old, it's not like he's been eating bad food for years and his teeth are rotting out.

And {{bonny}}, because it deserves a separate post.

The status is NOT quo.

{{{Libkitty}}} FWIW, I've had my kitties under for teeth cleaning a few times and never had a problem. I think you should definitely go with your gut, though.

I dub thy grammar LOLcat-perfection.

I think it's hysterical (and totally predictable) that all three of us chatted, had a great night, said it was time for bed, and then promptly got online. On three separate computers/iPhones.

Awesome.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Yeah, Zenkitty, the more you tell me, the more a second opinion sounds good. There may also be a chlorhexidine (I think) product that can be either swabbed onto a cat's teeth, or put in their drinking water (I'm not sure how useful that would be, as the felines in question might turn their cute little noses up at chemical-laced water) that could help with the inflammation - so that is another thing to ask about. We use a dental rinse for humans made of that stuff at the group homes for those who have less skill at brushing, and it makes a difference for them.

Typically speaking, during annual check ups, my cats were a few years old before much mention was made of tartar build-up - even before I learned how important it was to feed them something better than whatever is on sale cheap.

That's good to know, Kristin, thanks! I'm sure I'm getting worked up over nothing, but still. (Also, am zenkitty, not libkitty. S'okay.)

Falling asleep on laptop. Bedtime.

It's almost like y'all are Buffistas or something.

Oh! Yes, I can add that Harvey and Sammie both had dental cleanings done last year, and both came through with flying colors. Upon return home, they each seemed a bit groggy, but not as drunk as when they got fixed.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

namaste , bonny. a word I don't use, but it makes sense in this case.

2nd opinion sounds good, some cats just build tarter -- so he/ she may need it , but waiting won't hurt in a young cat

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I have houseguest. Not Jessica, or any Buffista, sad to say. BUT! After watching the Yankees win (my team) and the end of the Red Sox tragedy (her team) she was like "now what" and I said, "well, there is always Dr. Who", which she gleefully said "SURE!". But lo! She only knew the OLD shows (which I have yet to watch), and she was VERY much caught up in our favorite David Tennant, and the "Human Nature"/"Family of Blood" episodes. She asked "and you can rent these?", which leads me to believe she will!

With that, I should head to bed.
