But that's just my point! You she obeys! She obeys you! There's obeying going on right under my nose!

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I can see deciding to raise a kid without gender if the parents also are gender-non-conforming, and they find either other kids being raised without gender or intersex kids or trans kids or other kids outside the gender binary for their kid to play with, and also make sure that there are plenty of adults who don't conform to the gender binary in the kid's life. If they don't do that, then it just seems really unfair to make a decision that will make your kid significantly different from all the other kids they see and not give them any community or role models for that difference. It sucks when a kid is "different" in some way and for whatever reason can't have friends or adults who are different in a similar way, but it just seems unfair to purposely make your kid that different without providing all that support.

“Not dead yet!”

Y'know, he's not too bright, is he? He all but had a Get Out of Jail Free card with the press today and he had to go and say that?

I ordered a book from Amazon a few days ago. The tracking page says it was delivered at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. Deliveries here always go to the front desk. I didn't get home last night until around 7, after the front desk was closed. When I went this morning to pick it up, they said that nothing had been delivered for me yesterday. They even let me go through yesterday's pile of boxes, and none of them were mine.

Um. How worried should I be about the fate of my book?

move out and draw fire

I wonder how long it will take the Elvis rumors to start? That the body wasn't actually MJ, but someone bodysculpted to look like him, and that he and his doctor are living under assumed names.

I just remember the last public appearance he did, where there was a ton of internet speculation about whether it was really him or not.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I have a lot of thoughts on the way that kid is being raised, but they basically come down to thinking there's no harm in raising a toddler without imposing a gender on him/her. That said, at some point the kid will want to assert his/her gender, or a gender.

But I also think kids like to play with gender constructs. You'd need to be pretty aggressively rigid in policing a kid's gender to avoid that kind of play. Of course, I notice a lot of Isaac's friends ARE fairly closely monitored by their parents, but I don't know if it's unconscious or intentional.
