[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

but that does not excuse any shenanigans with underagers on his part.

I know I am a rarity in this, but I never believed he molested children. I always felt the bulk of the Michael Horror was directed at his oddness rather than the actual allegations -- and now its peculiar to see mass public declaration of "he was unique and brilliant" when it was "he is a horrifying freak" for so many years.

“Not dead yet!”

I don't know whether he did anything to those kids or not. I suspect he may have. But my greatest ire with respect to that part of his sad life goes to the parents of those kids. Especially the ones who let their kids stay at Neverland after the first allegations came out. I mean, yeah, he was Michael Jackson, but he was also most assuredly not of this world-- as a cynic, I have to think those parents were either looking for some sort of fame by association or simply looking to cash in.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I never believed he molested children.

I actually don't think he did anything sexually with kids, but there need not be sex for there to be weirdness and shenanigans.

Our wings are not tired.

I know I am a rarity in this, but I never believed he molested children.

Granted I didn't follow all the allegations all that closely, but the reports I did see lacked credibility. Don't know. I hope not.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Did you get the new one?

Not yet.

Absolutely. The guy clearly lacked boundaries. Continuing to have slumber parties with children (boys and girls, btw) after the first charges were dropped was deffinately foolish and probably inappropriate.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My favorite Michael Jackson era is between the early J-5 hits and Off the Wall. When he was still with his brothers, but grown into a tall, skinny young man. Check out his moves on Dancing Machine. That's what Original Nose Michael looks like. Check out the smile he flashes after doing the most awesome Robot imaginable. Also, Jermaine's a handsome dude.

Not a rarity. He was very odd, but I don't think he was a criminal. I think he was a victim of parents who see kids as a money-making commodity--both his own parents and the parents of the kids he tried to help.

I don't think he actually molested children. I do think there was probably some shenanigans. I don't think anything he did or anything that happened to him excuses anything he may have done, but I do think that his life was so screwed up and so far from normal, it renders any outside judgment about him pretty much impossible.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I do think he molested kids, because he exhibits all the traits of molesters--no real adult sexual or social life, fetishizing childhood, spending all his money/time to ensure he was surrounded by young boys, etc. The molester I taught with did ALL those things. He had comic books and Playboys and videogames and that kind of stuff at his house to make sure boys wanted to hang out with him. If he could have afforded Neverland, it's EXACTLY what he would have built. He had the exact same boy/man feel that MJ had as well.

He may never have had sex with the boys, but I will bet there was sexuality like mutual masturbation going on. It's sad for him and for them.

And I know he had a truly terrible childhood, but that is not a plausible reason for his fixation with young boys. His brothers and sisters had the exact same childhood and awful parents, and all of them have managed to have adult lives. They are also damaged, but not child-fixated the way Michael was.
