Our fucking power company just came and shut off the power to the house with no warning. Drew talked to the guy in the front lawn, who said he was "checking the meter" and didn't mention he was about to disconnect power. We figured that out five minutes later web he drove away and the entire house went dark. Drew did miss a bill while he was out of state, apparently, but give me a break! No disconnect notice? Seriously? It was an oversight, not a malicious attempt not to pay. Now he is trying to reach someone in the power company to come reconnect us since I'm, in theory, making a birthday dinner for a friend in a few hours. Grr.
Spike's Bitches 44: It's about the rules having changed.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
That is terrible, Kristin! Hope you guys are able to get it back on soon.
Oh, Kristin, that sucks. And, yeah, they're supposed to send multiple warnings--you're so many weeks overdue, you have ten days, you have three days--before the actual cut-off (sadly, I know this because there've been times in the past when I deliberately ran our power bill right down to the wire, because I knew they'd give us notice and they wouldn't charge interest in the meantime).
I pronounce them fuckweasels.
I pronounce them fuckweasels.
Fuckweasels seems to be breeding rapidly these days....
Super weak, power company.
Fuckweasels seems to be breeding rapidly these days....
Their name would sort of imply that.
That sucks PK, you should get a warning, that's crazy.
Holy shit, Kristin. That kind of bullshit gets people killed, fer chrissakes.
I was just discussing that with my mom over the weekend as a parallel to why people are hanged and pictures are hung.
Some people are hung.
They are claiming that they sent a second notice, which may be true since we have the world's least reliable postal service. Anyway. Drew has paid the bill over the phone and is now waiting for a reconnect. So it's fine, but still. Grr. What if this had happened any other day but this one, when Drew was actually home? Our housesitter would have been trying to figure everything out.
Plus? Email, people. Seriously.
I do not discuss that with my mother, Trudy.
