sj, that is so incredibly awful. I hope something gets resolved very quickly.
I've skimmed a week's worth of posts. No, I didn't take notes to meara, but I assure you that there was ~ma and laughter and cheers happening.
We drove to Otter Lake on Monday and Tuesday. The plan was for me to have help driving, but I ended up driving the entire 1500 miles by myself. It wasn’t too bad. Bobby and I have unpacked and settled in for the summer. It’s cold, but I’m still reveling in the free A/C. I made quiche for dinner for my local family last night then we had a bonfire at my nephew’s house. Nice. There were about a dozen deer peering at us confused as to why we thought this fire stuff was so pretty.
Still have to finish cleaning the layer of grit that seems to be on all surfaces after the 10 month absence. Well, let’s just say the list is long.
Missed all of you. Now that my computer is here I shall be around more. I had packed everything in the car on Sunday night except Bobby, Brandy, and the computers. I managed to depart Monday morning without my computers, and my phone charger which was in my laptop bag. My family and office accused me of doing it on purpose. DH sent it to me via UPS and I got it yesterday. Guess it is back to work (and socializing) time.
We have spoken to the landlord and he has spoken to the neighbors. In a nutshell, she was apologetic and he has made it clear that this is unacceptable and will not happen again. We still at the in-laws and will be for a while. Any -ma you can send that this just goes away would be great. My stress levels are almost back to normal.
This is possibly the only place where my bizarre life would get me kudos. No wonder I like it here. Seska, it may be that my purpose in life is to be the "bad" example! I've got no real advice, all I got is this: I regret telling our families the truth; I don't regret loving the people I loved. I chose to be with the ones who weren't making me choose.
sj, what an awful situation! I hope the landlord's intervention is all that was needed to make this stop.
d, the south of France! I am so envying you right now. Can you feel it? It's like an especially warm breeze...
Much safety~ma to you, sj. And some ~ma of the "maybe, just maybe this is the wake-up call that that family needed to change how they work things out" variety for the family upstairs.
You know, I think I have to join ZenKitty in envying d. Sounds perfectly wonderful.
And I'm glad you made it safely, Laura.
I just made watermelon gazpacho for lunch. It was my first time using my new spiffy red immersion blender, which is very awesome.
The soup is pretty good - watermelon, almonds, garlic, and a bit of seasoning. Not to everyone's taste but I quite liked it.
Hi everyone!
Andi and I just came back from eating at a new place in town. They specialize in a cheese-filled burger called a "Juicy Lucy."
We ordered the Jucy Lucy and drinks and sat down at a table in the mall outside of the main cafe. There was disco music playing inside, and it drifted out as we sat and chatted.
I mentally noted "I love the nightlife," always seemed repetitive and talked on.
After a while Andi said "This song has been playing since we got in here." I countered that it just seemed that way. Then it finished....and started again.
Oh Alicia Bridges, we knew you loved the nightlife, and that you got to boogie, but do you have to tell us so often?
One of Andi's coworkers happened to be there as well, and we brought it up to her.
Eventually Andi went to let them know and got our Juicy Lucy burgers. It was at that point I realized we had not been asked for payment, and went up and paid our tab.
Soon after that, the music changed to other 70's disco tunes.
It may have been a ploy to get me to pay, or it may have been Andi asking them about the endlessness.
The world may never know.
One of Andi's cow orkers happened to be there as well, and we brought it up to her.
Nah, she's a proper coworker. Incidentally she was highly amused at the disco selection too, fearing she might start doing some Saturday Night Fever moves inexplicably during her shift later in the day.
What I found truly frightening was Daniel's ability to identify all the other disco songs within the first two measures. Where's Tom Kennedy when you need him?
Absolutely torrential downpour happening here. Probably the same travelin' rain that was in Dallas a couple days ago.
Maybe it was a social experiment, to find out how long it would take for people to notice.
