Favorite Olympian/Olympian crush: Paul Wylie, 1992 Albertville Olympics. Believed to be washed up, named to the U.S. Olympic team under protest, that people thought that one of the younger guys should be named and not without reason-- he had a history of choking in the short program and then delivering the most exquisite long programs.
But somehow, he managed to do the impossible and do a great short program and then even better, perform a gorgeous long program when it counted.

I have fond memories of Alberto Tomba, the slalom racer from the '80s (?). His dear mama told him she was afraid for his safety if he raced downhill, so he promised her he would only do the slalom races--and proceeded to race the slalom faster and more recklessly than had been seen in ages. He also refused to get up for the early morning practices and slept in, then did a couple of runs down the mountains in midday then hit the beach.
Tomba!
Gnyahrg.
Never fails, bad work things happen on Fridays and at 4:30 you are still waiting for a go-ahead/don't go-ahead/ohSHIT response.
This weekend
Floor sanding-- who is surprised?
The obama vp thing isn't gonna happen until tomorrow, is it?
Ion - I forgot lunch today. Grr
I heard some speculation that it won't happen 'til Sunday so all the Saturday morning political shows continue talking about all of McCain's houses.
Tomba!
La Bomba!
He was such a playa-- Bode Miller doesn't have anything on Alberto...

I thought there were plans for him and whoever the VP is to appear together tomorrow?
I just watched that video, shrift. Although I feel stupid now because I can't spot you.
Oh! And this guy: [link]
Maybe not the most accomplished Olympian, but my Aunt was his grade three teacher (and his only teacher to send him a good luck card or something, per his mother), and his mother was in nursing school with my mother.
