Reavers ain't men. Or they forgot how to be. Now they're just nothing. They got out to the edge of the galaxy, to that place of nothing, and that's what they became.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I'm acquiring the theory that the people behind this American Sherlock Holmes have never actually read Sherlock Holmes.

good quality Sherlock snark.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm also enjoying Elementary -- it's much more House than Conan Doyle, but I like it!

Although every time she says "companion," I can't help but think of Inara.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Given that they played a few bars of 'watching the dectectives' at the end of the fist episode, they are definitely thinking subtext.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

they are definitely thinking subtext

What subtext?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I am on the same page as Jesse, both with House and Inara.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I'm finding myself increasingly nostalgic for police procedurals that care whether the case will hold up in court.

The status is NOT quo.

I, too, am Jesse.

I'd say the choice of music indicates they are thinking of adding some. Does not mean they will, but if the though had not crossed their mind I can't see them using just the following lyrics:

"Watching the Detectives - cute! Cute! cute!
"Watching the Detectives - shoot! shoot! shoot!

Doesn't that look like a hint they are thinking add subtext somewhere along the line?

I'm asking what subtext--subtext of what? I'm completely lost here. I don't get the code.
