Holy crap.
Buffista Movies 6: lies and videotape
A place to talk about movies--old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
Oh, that's sad. I really like his work. (Except Cold Mountain, but I hated the book so thoroughly you'll never persuade me to see the movie.)
Not to change the subject, but:
Why do people keep thinking that adapting Dune will be a good idea? Seriously?

Amen. It never works.
I was telling DH in IM, it's like these people are skimming the plot synopsis and going "Hey cool! It's about a teenager with superpowers and his hot superpowered Mom who takes over the world! With big worms!"
And...okay...kind of...but...no. Kind of missing the point A LOT.
He can make it more like FNL. . .

"Plus, no sets to build! All sand!!"
I can't tell if it makes more or less sense that one of the producers did the Sci-Fi adaptations, too. Apparently he thinks "Producer of Dune" isn't just a credit; it's a way of life.
"Plus, no sets to build! All sand!!"
Everybody wins!!

I'm not sure that's what David Lynch was up to. Of course, does ANYONE really know what David Lynch was up to, or is ever up to, including him.
I must admit that Lynch's DUNE is pretty high up on my list of "love it even though it isn't remotely good" movies.
