It was very, very good. I don't blame Nigel for being speechless. I think I would have been, too.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I think even if you had turned it on and didn't know what it was about it still would take your breath away.
It was just beautiful and moving.
It was really beautiful. And very well-danced. I think they deserved everything that was said, and Tyce even more so.
It didn't help that that song *always* makes me teary, too.
I didn't mean to be flip -- I was asking about the cancer just based on Melissa's headscarf, and I didn't think it was really true....
I really liked the Shane Sparks routine too. I do have a weakness for zombie dances but it was really fun.
Oh, I didn't think you were being, Jesse!
The zombie thing was AWESOME. Loved it. And it stood up nicely after the other, because it was a whole different tone.
ok, just watching the 2nd half now. SO here is the thing about Evan - BWAY IS MORE THAN THAT F'IN "Aw Shucks" face and pooped out hands. UGH! he has no variety.
That Brandon/Janine 2nd routine looked tough as hell and timing was not together a lot, but damn Brandon KILLED it I thought.
I was really distracted by her hair. she should have had a braid or something. It made her seem off on the routine because her hair moved faster than she did.
TOP CHEF MASTERS: Loved this group. Loved that the mutual respect was so prominent, and the lack of sabotage (the minor one of denial of fish aside). Really sorry that these guys hadn't been spread out through the season, as I think they all could have won at some point, and there was usually at least one person in the other rounds i didn't like.
I liked the zombie routine, but thought Kayla was better than Jason. And I don't really like either of them! AND I really liked their Broadway number too! WTF, why did THEY get the good numbers tonight??
The cancer dance really was very good. Though I thought the chacha was not--neither of them were...loose?...enough for me.
I wanted Brandon and Jeanine to be better, dangit. That waltz was the worst slowest least-waltzy music ever. And while I wanted to like the "Battlefield" number, I just didn't, quite. Not sure what that was about, for me.
For me, the thing with Evan's solos is that I feel like much more than the other dancers, he's good at choreographing them to be a tiny little dance that goes with the amount of time, the music, his style, and his strength. The other dancers often come out there and look like they're making shit up on the spot going "Oh crap! Uh...turn! And flail! And um...SHIMMY! SHIMMY! VOTE FOR ME OH GOD!!!"
