I was surprised by both. That was a weird bottom 3, overall.
Yeah, that.
one couple definitely deserved to be in the bottom 3, IMO. probably 2 out of the 3. I was only surprised with one of them.
Unfortunately, based on the solos, the right woman went home, but she isn't the woman I wanted to go home. As far as the man? I don't get it. I think the other one in the bottom 2 should have gone - despite the fact I like him.
quester,
email me at profile addy if you want the whole ep.
le nubian, I really liked the group number, but then, this is only the second one I've ever seen on this show (I watched the last four performance eps last year, but I always skipped the results show).
Definitely wasn't too thrilled with the girl who left leaving (I thought another one should go), but I was happy with the guy who left leaving.
I was happy with both boots. I wanted Caitlin and Jason to go, but after the solos, it was obvious that Caitlin would stay. She was lovely. I think that was her audition solo. And while neither Kayla nor Ashley gave a good performance, Kayla showed solid technique and Ashley . . . posed and walked and then did a plie. OK. For me, for the show, I'd still have gone with the Jason boot. The judges love this kid, but I am just not seeing it. I found his solo frantic and disjointed. I'm not mad to see Maks go because he wasn't in my Top 10 (and seriously, he looked like Grandpa Moses next to some of these kids), but his solo was excellent for a partner dancer and he had a really good week. Good enough to have bought him another week on the show, in my opinion. Kupono was the only dancer who seemed like he'd actually taken time to choreograph a piece. Sadly, it wasn't a very challenging solo. I'm glad he stayed, though, and I think he and Kayla have a chance to be a solid couple.
I loved the group dance. The costumes, the make up, the whole vibe. And Ade, Kupono and Jason were killing it. And who was the girl up front at the beginning of the girls' section? Was it Jeanine? Whoever it was, she was phenomenal. Any time I'm ready to write Mia off, I need to remember that she is actually a really good choreographer.
kat, your blog is cracking me up.
I agree that kat deserves worldwide fame. I am so sad you are on the west coast so we don't don;t have as much watch and post as we used to.
The thing that I find sort of refreshing about Top Chef Masters is that the chefs are so much more relaxed. Which makes sense because they all have a level of confidence that the others are missing. But it makes it fun. And I like that the food they make is generally, but not universally, really good. It's a difference dynamic and it makes it fun. Although only having four does make it feel empty somehow.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but if you go to the comments on the "Top Chef Masters" post on my blog, judge Jay Rayner commented. I e-mailed him at the Observer. It's really him. Cracks me up something fierce.
