Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

Enhanced Clue #1:
While one of the missing author’s plays was adapted to be an Italian opera, the composer was neither from Italy nor France, but rather from a third European country. The action of the play takes place in yet a fourth European country.
Enhanced Clue #3:
This "renaissance man" is probably best known for his film work, although he never worked for Disney. Unlike Disney, he probably would have voted against Prop 8.

You all would have smoked the TAR competition.

Silly. French painters would be a much longer list.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Beaumarchais!

Scrappy coming in for the clinchers!

Yes, Beaumarchais, who wrote both Le Barbier de Séville and Le Mariage de Figaro.

I'm surprised no one's gotten the last one, I thought that he was one of the better known on the list, although maybe not for his plays.

Since I’m about to leave for after-work drinks, the missing answer is Cocteau, playwright and (Vortex) painter, who is probably best known for his film Beauty and the Beast.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I would have gotten 3 maybe 4 on that list. that's it.

cocteau - not in a million years. I did like his film, but it wasn't my vision of B&B.

Man, that was driving me nuts! I knew it was him and could not think of his name for the life of me. I've got the dementias!

Beauty and the Beast is one of my favorite films of all time and I always think of it as "Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast." Stupid brain!

Because books.

Lil and Danny blew me away tonight. So good! And honestly, I thought Danny's dancing was charming -- maybe because it didn't look choreographed to me, either, but more like he was just bopping around, moving to the music.

Thrive to spite them

My favorites are Lil, Danny, Adam, Allison and Alexis. It's hard to figure out who is going to be in the bottom and I wonder what kind of "change" is going to happen. Guess I better watch the whole thing instead of just tuning into the end of the results show like I normally do.
