My sister just told me that my nephew wants to apply to TAR with me when he hits 18 (in two years). Cutiehead. He actually wanted to apply for the family edition, but we couldn't convince either of my siblings to join us.
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
AI tonight? horrible. the only one remotely good was Lil Rounds and even she didn't inspire me to vote.
I miss David Cook.
There wasn't much good there, tonight, tiggy. I'm kind of pissed because I think there are other people from the previous segments who deserve to be on more than any of the 12 from tonight. I hope the wildcards take care of that.
Really? I felt the opposite. There were a bunch of people tonight I would like to see again and in previous rounds I was pretty clear on which 3 I would want.
The only people I liked were Lil Rounds ( who was BY FAR the best, if she doesn't get in America is insane, but she'll get a wild card). Jo'Not (or how ever his name is spelled), he did Deliliah, which he did in Hollywood week, but it was an interesting take on it and he sang it well. Jorge (Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me).
and Felicia wasn't too bad. Everyone else was just.. a hot mess. What is with the song choices? The ABBA song! She was a good singer but that was just ... sad. Plus the country girl looked cute and picked a country song but not one she could sing. And formerly purple hair girl, I don't see why she got so many raves.
I'm a little worried the young guy who butchered the Elton John song will get in on the teenage "ooh he's so cute" vote.
Well, I didn't like the song choices of any of your favorites (although I agree with your take on their performances), but they were able to rise above their choice.
I can't think of one choice I liked. Was there any song with a solid melody last night?
And, why did the judges rave about the first guy? I thought he was totally flat through most of the song.
I can't remember the first guy. I know at about 9:00 I was wondering if it was 1 1/2 hours because I couldn't remember anyone who was coming up next.
It's not the first time a photo has posed a problem for an 'American Idol' contestant, and it probably won't be the last.
Pictures of Adam Lambert, who made the show's top 12 last week, kissing another male have been circling the Internet.
He's been in musical theatre since he was four, and wears more makeup than I do. People are surprised?

I'm not, but I bet the Idol folks are going to be pissed if it ruins his share of the teenage girl vote.
I loved Lil Rounds, and ... that was about it, really. But I could see a bunch of them last night getting decent votes based on personality.
The formerly-purple-hair girl baffled me. I love the song she chose ("Give Me One Reason") but she sang it all wrong, perky and cute instead of the soulful, bluesy way Tracy Chapman did it. And even though I usually frown on how much emphasis they put on image and wardrobe, I really got it with her -- she looked like she was on her way home from church, aside from the gold heels, instead a girl who was trying (and not succeeding) to do a bluesy rock song.
I never understand it when Simon criticized things like lyrics, either, the way he did with the guy who sang "Mandolin Rain." He didn't write them, Simon.
This shouldn't be an issue, he's kissing a guy. It's not like he's posing semi nude at national monuments.
And unlike the chick from the above pictures he can really perform.
