Because books.

Why oh why would you EVER say, "I've never done that before, but it sounds good," and then DO IT in the FINALE of TOP CHEF??

And the look on Tom's face when she *admitted* to it? Sigh.

Art Crawl!!!

I know!

I'm so disappointed - she was doing so well but it's true her lack of confidence got her in the end.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Huh. Toby says in his blog that it was Colicchio arguing for Hosea to win.

Tom countered that Hosea’s margin of victory in the third course was so much greater than Stefan’s margin of victory in the second that there was no need to bring in past performances — Hosea was the clear winner.

I'm very disappointed in Carla. To be swayed into a new technique in the finale WITH THE PROTEIN? Even a well seared filet would have been fine.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

You know, they advise home cooks not to decide that a dinner party is the time to try out a brand-new recipe ... and someone on a cooking competition did it? (I don't watch TC, but just commenting on ... um, general dumbness.)

Art Crawl!!!

Yeah. It's such a shame.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Yeah, I can't be that mad at Casey, even though she did overstep the bounds. Carla was way too passive for someone in her position, and she was the one who made the mistake with the oven temp for the souffles.

Given how easily she went along with Casey, I can't help but wonder how much worse it would have been if she had been paired with Marcel. I think only Richard could have saved her, of the three sous chefs.

I don't know, I think Marcel might not have interfered. I mean, he didn't speak up about the freezing fish idea.

I was so disappointed by the finale. I thought that if Carla wasn't going to win, Stefan would knock it out of the park. Really bummed. I feel a bit bad for Casey. Now she'll be known for f*cking up in two finales.

Also, I did finally watch the Flay/Freitag Iron Chef with sous chef Ariane. Quite a good episode with lots of tasty-looking dishes.

I don't know that Marcel would have stood up to someone with a strong personality. I think that he would have tried to overrun Carla, because she clearly can be led.

Richard would have been a great sous chef. He would have offered suggestions, but not tried to push.

I'm sad that Carla messed up the souffle. I think that a cheese course would have been a perfect third course. It might have saved her.

It was definitely a great idea and really went with her whole French theme, where the third course is traditionally "cheese or dessert". Plus, it sounded yummy. I would've have been interested to see what they would have said had she served it with the soufflé.
