The Fabio/Stefan show is good reality TV, but I think I would have tossed both of them off the balcony by now if I had to live in that house.
I was really disappointed in Hosea for going with the canned crab. Dude, "rethink your whole dish"?? I've been to that Whole Foods - their fish/seafood department is bigger than my ENTIRE APARTMENT. Don't even try to tell me canned crab was your only option. It's a freaking SALAD. Make it with shrimp. Or tuna. Or chilean sea bass. Or scallops.

EXACTLY!!!! See what's fresh and use that!

Which is, ironically enough, pretty much the mantra for all New American Cuisine.
Yeah - he failed in the grocery store.
Tom C. is very dismayed (per his blog) about the cheftestants outdated view of "New American Cuisine."

Right, exactly. Use fresh and, if at all possible, local. It makes me crazy when I know stuff that the chefs don't seem to know. Since I'm just an eater, reader, and unremarkable home cook.
And the three winners really fit into that, where they're sort of showcasing a fresh ingredient. (The dessert might be iffy there I guess, but at least wasn't totally fussy and overdone like most of the rest.) Which is nice to see, because the judging doesn't always reflect the stated point so well.
It's so sad that Top Model is so pathetic these days that they had the finale and we post not one post about it.
...anyone care? Yeah, I didn't really either. I wasn't surprised much, either. I think I probably liked McKey best. Though I was sorta a fan of Marjorie, really...sad she got kicked off before the end there...not that she would've won.
I've enjoyed the "where are they now" bits they've been doing this season, with girls from the past seasons.
Off the wall Top Chef question for New Yorkers: Is that the Whole Foods on Houston Street they're going to? Because the external shots are so tight, I can't be sure. But I think it is.

Yep, that's the one. It's huuuuuuuuuuuuuge. (And much fancier than other WF in the city, with it's own climate-controlled cheese room and such. If WF weren't a sponsor, I'd love to see them shopping at the giant Fairway in Red Hook instead.)
