Punishingly Intricate

Thanks, sumi! I've avoided reading about/looking at pics of the Bryant Park shows because it felt like spoilage to me. But I feel like i can check Jerrel's out now that we know he's not in competition. I had heard that his collection was disappointing.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, a) Tim Gunn is the cutest thing ever and I adore him.

But, b) WTF, Project Runway? I cannot believe we have to deal with Kenley drama for the finale! And I hated this finale part I. Hated.

Hated the idea that all four were competing. Hated the stupid wedding dresses that had to be a part of their collection. (I hate constraints at all on their collection; at this point they should just be designers doing their own thing.) Hated the last minute bridesmaid challenge.

And of course, we get the half-hearted apology, but it looks like it's going to blow back up in the finale. I'd rather just see some good clothing and some fierce competition.

Since it did come down the way it did, glad we've got Korto and not Jerrell, but I think Leanne's going to win. I liked her ideas, I liked her execution, and I think she has the strongest point of view.

I had no idea about Korto's backstory. No idea.

(Also about Suede's collection, ITA, lisah!)

I actually liked the idea since a collection traditionally ends with a wedding dress.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I was glad to see Eugenia from Top Model in Jerrell's show, at least....

Did you see Joe's? It seems to be predominantly comprised of bustiers and insane crotches.

There was one pants getup in Joe's that really made me wonder if the model had a penis.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hated the last minute bridesmaid challenge.

This really pissed me off. If they want these people to be sending their best work down the runway AT FASHION WEEK then they do NOT need to be wasting time making an extra dress at the last minute!

That said, I suspect the outcome would have been the same with our without the bridesmaid dress, because Jerrell's wedding gown was a mess. I *loved* the skirt, but the pointy flippy things on her boobs were just beyond unfortunate.

But then, I wasn't a huge fan of Leanne's either. I didn't think "waves" - I thought "garlic."

Because books.

Joe's collection just looked vaguely trashy, but Suede's? WOW, that was horrific. The whole thing looked like something he did in craft class.

This really pissed me off. If they want these people to be sending their best work down the runway AT FASHION WEEK then they do NOT need to be wasting time making an extra dress at the last minute!

Like megan said, including a wedding gown didn't bother me, because I love a show that ends with a wedding dress. But the last-minute challenges really are bullshit at that point. That said, I think Kenley and Leanne really rose to the challenge -- the dresses captured the spirit of the wedding gowns perfectly, and didn't look last-minute at all.
