Wash: Well, I wash my hands of it. It's a hopeless case. I'll read a nice poem at the funeral. Something with imagery. Zoe: You could lock the door and keep the power-hungry maniac at bay. Wash: Oh, no, I'm starting to like this poetry idea now. Here lies my beloved Zoe, my autumn flower, somewhat less attractive now she's all corpsified and gross...

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Okay, so it's not just me. I couldn't follow the cab thing at all - I thought maybe he was mad at her for "sharing information" by saying cabs were hard to find? So the siblings went to a different corner to find one?

Anyway, CONFUSING.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

The thing to remember is that their logic is not our Earth logic.

Punishingly Intricate

The douches have found their new king.

Seriously! And when they were on the rope climbing thing and he told her "I can climb and talk, you can't!" WTF??!?!?! I hope she dumbs his ass during the race. What a total tool.

I'm sad about the hippies leaving. Not that I usually tolerate hippies well but I thought they probably could really use the money to keep their bee farm going.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

I'm already wishing I had applied to this one (instead of TAR 14 which, according the application, is filming now) because it already seems like these teams are very lame.

Trust my rage

They went to Brazil! Where? Man, I am so jealous that I missed this. I will have to see if I can find it online. TAR is the one reality TV show that I could see myself doing. Joe and I would be an awesome team.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I had such hopes for the hippies! They were fit! They chop their own wood! They should have been okay. Ah well, farewell sources for future "that'll give you, um, bees" jokes.

I was disappointed, because when Glasses Girl spoke the language well I wanted to like them. But seriously, total control freak! And the "talk to me" bit was so ridiculous. You spend so little time actually together with the other teams I think it's advantageous for her to talk to them when they can.

I thought Team Cheating Heart was going to be pissed when referred to as Mom & Dad, but they just accepted it. Their alliance is going to be so sad when Mom & Dad inevitably break up on the road.

Oh, and there was the obligatory "you're the one that's supposed to speak Spanish" when entering the not-Spanish-speaking country.

We seriously need a Buffistas team. We would kick ass with our navigational skills and our savvy and our grace under pressure skills. The geeks will have to stand in for us. I loved their jacket tactic, and that they seem ready to tackle whatever comes their way. I hope they hang in.

Noticed there wasn't a preppie young all guy team this time, so it'll have to be a preppie young mixed team that wins. Not as heavy on the racial mixture either, and the one old team is already gone.

I read this as "preppie young all gay team," and realized that there wasn't one of those, either.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ha! No, there's not, huh?

Also, re Top Chef: Can it be? A season with no fauxhawk?

Punishingly Intricate

There's a chef from B'more this season! Not that I've been to the restaurant (really more like a dance club) where she's chef in years.
