Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Well, she did tell Diane Furstenburg what her collection was missing.
Yes, Suede's idea was all wrong - it wasn't just a failure in execution it was a failure in design. I think that should have knocked it down further than Stella's or Joe's. Meanwhile, I really thought that Stella's design was better than Joe's - even though execution on both sucked. I think Joe's sucked worse and his design wasn't as good. I am surprised that he wasn't out of there.
I thought that the top three all did amazing stuff. I am a bit disappointed that Jerrell didn't pull out a winner. I thought that this challenge would be right up his alley.
On ANTM, was the girl who left the one who had applied 30+ times?

No it was the Least of the Brittanys, Brittany B. Or possibly Britteny. Her Tyra-imposed fake name was something like Sharauna. She was the one being perfectly horrible during Isis' shoot.
The 30+ times girl is Joslyn or Jocelyn? however you spell it who I think did the Military theme photo that was pretty good.
Loving this season so far! It's OTT hilarious!!! Alpha Jay and Beta Jay indeed.
Loving Isis and Sheena and the vegan and Marjorie if she'd settle down a bit.
Thanks! I didn't think so, but I wasn't recording it, so I couldn't go back and check, and they are all still a blur.

Me too, plus the mixed martial arts chick.
Mixed martial arts chick is beautiful. She could be a contender if she gets a good makeover and a little confidence. And I did enjoy Jocelyn, the serial auditioner. She was giving great face in her picture.
On PR: I wish Stella had stayed over Joe, but I think both of their days were numbered, so I'm not too torn up about it. Very classy exit from Lady Leather.
I did love both Leanne and Korto's looks and would've been happy with the win for either one of them. I thought Kenley's print was fugly, but will concede that it was impeccably made. Still would've gone with Terri's look as #3. I don't care if she makes pants all the way to Bryant Park. Everyone else makes a dress or a skirt every week but you don't see Terri bitching about them. Each designer has his/her aesthetic and the trick is to marry that to the dictates of the challenge, which I think Terri has done very well. And as for Blayne's little dig . . . well, he and his polka dot bloomers can bite me.
I also managed to watch Top Design last night. Not bad. I suppose India Hicks is better than the little man they had S1. And Kelly W. is still insane, so that's fun. It still just doesn't have that same pop as PR or Top Chef, but it'll do in a pinch. Only one of the four lofts was good (the winners). I thought the other three were all working some serious ugly. And I cannot believe that they didn't boot the girl who flooded the sink and abused that pitiful sofa. Serge at least seemed to have something interesting going on.

Exactly this! Trousers are hard, yo. I don't understand the Magical Elves' harping on this theme. So she does her stuff in pants, rather than skirts. Lots of houses made their names in pants.
Edited because "shit in pants" was a bad phrase.
PR:
Definitely agree that the bottom three should have been Stella, Suede, Joe, in that order. Stella wouldn't have been long for the competition, but Joe's outfit was hideous. It was also very, very pink. Just 'cause it works for drag queens, yo, don't mean it works for everything.
I was sure it was going to go because poor construction is the kiss of death on this show. But I guess it was so poor they thought maybe it was a design feature, whereas Stella's was clearly just not tailored well. Still, I think I'd give her kudos for thinking through the challenge instead of just throwing something up that was "Asian" and I do mean the quotes.
I thought this was going to be Kenley's challenge, and it should have been. It was the era she could have rocked, and it was with a designer with an eye for prints. I'm glad she made her design and stood by it. I agree that with one more piece it could have been amazing, maybe a hooded flyaway scarf or something. Something solid to offset and play up the print.
Still, to my surprise, Leanne's outfit was lovely and understated and fit the era without losing modernity. It had an interesting shape, and I think I'm beginning to see her design aesthetic in a way that hasn't been evident.
Oh! And can I say how horrified I was about the travesty in the sample room? Those designers need their wrists slapped.

Don't you mean "Oriental?"
I so think Joe should have been the one to go. Stella's had all the problems everyone says it had but Joe's was HIDEOUS!
As was Blayne's. But his I guess was well constructed.

I think if they wanted to be careful of the fabrics they should have given them more time and people to help them.
Don't you mean "Oriental?"
Ha! I totally do. Did I mention it was awful? Because it was.
I agree that they should have had more time, which I thought right at the beginning when they said how much they'd have. But still, dragging those bolts along the floor, tearing that stuff off the racks. Some of that fabric was worth a lot of jack, and I hated to see it get potentially damaged. Felt like a lack of respect to me.
First of all, how the fuck is Blayne still around??? I'll agree that Stella wasn't ever going to make it to Bryant Park, but at ZOMG those balloon pants. WTF???
Of the bottom three, I was expecting Suede to go. His dress just didn't *fit* and it's not the first time he's had that problem. And the less said about Joe's taste level the better.
OTOH, Stella has repeatedly sent half-finished ideas down the runway, and part of the challenge is always FINISHING YOUR FUCKING GARMENT. PS, in the 1930's, women wore shirts.
Kenley should have known that "a look" != "a dress" no matter how impeccable the dress is, but I also loved Leanne's look, so I was happy to see her win.
I'm not sure what the deal was with everyone bitching about Terri's pants this week. Terri always makes pants, Korto always makes jackets, Leanne always makes dresses with random flippy thing, Blayne always makes whacked-out ugly crap. Isn't that what having a point of view is all about?
