Also? They need to stop trying to recast Christian.
Amen. Love him or want to strangle him, there was always a sense that Christian was pretty much just like that. I never felt that it was a put-on for the cameras.

I don't know that they were trying to recast Christian, but showing his uniqueness. I think that Suede and Blayne have affectations to make the "Characters"
Vortex, I don't mean "recast" as in giving a different shape, I mean literally placing a person who is Christian-like on the new season. Blayne is trying way too hard with his word inventions, and tone of voice and affectations and I'm sure that was all there during casting.
I watched the first episode of Long Way Down this morning. Ah, I hope that Ewan and Charlie make many more crazy motorcycle trips because I love watching their show so much. I think that Fox Reality was previewing it last night because it's on at it's regular time too. (Saturday at 8 pm central.)
Anybody else catch Food Detectives yet? I like Ted Allen in other contexts, but it was like he was trying way, WAY too hard to be Alton Brown, to considerably lesser effect.
Any chance that FN is trying to force out Alton (or at least Good Eats) the way they have other stars/shows that got to pricey?
I thought it was okay but as you said Ted was trying to hard. I have no idea if they're trying to force out Alton Brown.

I doubt it. I think they are just trying to ride the coattails of AB success. Alton's ALL up in the FN: Good Eats, Iron Chef, the Feasting on Asphalt/Sea series, Next Iron Chef...
They've done other weird shows along this line as well, that crazy George Durand show, The Secret Life of... with both Jim O'Connor and now George Durand...
AB's still turning out new Good Eats episodes. And they just put Good Eats in the Emeril Live showcase spot at 8pm a few months ago.
I don't see the Food Network forcing AB out anytime soon.
(am watching the 2 part "Tender Is The Loin" episodes as I type!)

I'm probably just parnoid, but I would have said the same thing about Emeril a couple of years ago - I was surprised, though not remotely upset, when they decided to not do Emeril Live anymore.
I think that AB's role at FN is more diverse than Emeril's.

Very true, dat.
