Art Crawl!!!

Wow, no PR?

I have to say, the challenges where the models are the clients are usually difficult and nice twist having them purchase the materials. I think Kenley did an excellent job but I get why Suede won. His dress seemed most appropriate for his client and I like that he played with the material more.

I can't recall what Wesley did last week - but this week he way overworked that satin. And what was Kortu thinking?

Stella's whininess is annoying.

They're having the eliminated models do exit interviews on the bravowebsite. That's new.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

That was hot -- Twitch is great when he really commits.

YES! I loved the little 60’s funk move from the hips with the twitchy (ha!) feet.

I just want to them to quit throwing themselves on the floor! How do I know if you tripped, if you're performing a prayer or about to throw up?

Yes, one of my basic issues with contemporary. The music is also often crappy. I mean, if you perform to Celine Dion, I am automatically disposed to hate it.

but on the show, Comfort, Will, Joshua and Twitch do it.

Hmmm.

My stupid cable jacked up that whole routine. She was on the floor, it paused, and she was up in the air!

Mine too. Stupid digital cable.

I didn't like Will and Courtney's lyrical hiphop to Alicia Keys all that much either.

Me either. His moves were so much crisper than hers, I really saw the contrast.

Also also, has there ever been a really really good disco? It's ALWAYS kinda off.

Why is it even a style on this show!

PR:

I knew that Korto was okay. The dress design was bad, but the fit was good, and the idea was well executed, it just wasn't a good idea. Faced with a terrible idea and a badly fit dress, she was safe. She needs to not take it so personally, I think.

I knew that shorts boy was out because the dress looked like a piece of shit. It was badly fit (kiss of death!) and the idea didn't work. StudentWorker had an okay idea, she just needed to learn to edit. A few fewer loops, and it might have been okay. Shorts Boy's dress was unsalvageable. I do think that Student Worker will go home very soon.

I was surprised by Blaine's dress, it was really cute. After that monstrosity last week, I thought he was a disaster. I'm not sure if he's toned down his schtick or they just showed less of it this week.

I liked Bettie Page's dress, but it was too reminiscent of Daniel's orchid blouse (still one of my favorite pieces ever), I knew that it wouldn't win because of that.

I thought that the winning dress was cute, but I would never buy it, not even if I was 10 years younger and mumble pounds lighter. I think that the runner up would have sold MUCH better, and production would have been easier. But, the designer probably doesn't get the money, so who cares.

It was so cute how Natalie Portman tried to find something positive to say about each outfit. She seems like a nice person.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I did like Natalie Portman, but it's still too soon to pay attention to the designers/designs -- there are too many! When Heidi was listing off the safe people, I had no idea who most of them were. In general, I agree with you, Vortex.

I wish I would ever run into Top Chef filming somehwere. [link]

PR: I had higher hopes for the peacock model, the blues and greens she chose seemed so pretty.

Was the Bettie Page fabric the same as the bronze one, just a different color? Also, do they mostly use synthetic fabrics on this show? That hadn't been my impression, but I'm not very good with fabric.

Cinnamon scones:
Given the conversations in Natter of late, when they first said the dress had to be green, I thought they meant color and thought, "some of those models will look horrible in green".

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The whole green fabrics thing was really weirdly done - they didn't really give a rundown on what impact that might have design or construction-wise, and the fabric problems that did arise seemed to have a lot more to do with questionable taste than limited selection.

Did they restrict shoes/accessories at all? I'm surprised they didn't take the opportunity to product place Natalie Portman's stuff.

I don't think that they are necessarily synthetics, but my understanding is that "green" fabrics are about more than the material they're made out of. It's also about manufacturing process, what they're blended with, etc.

'Til we dance away...

PR- I had forgotten the model with the peacock feathers had even gone that direction because the dress ended up so far from what I (and probably the model) had been picturing.

I can't help but wonder if Wesley would have been better off at least using some of the green (color, not ideology) fabric that he thought was so gross. Could have given the dress a little more length at least. Terri's blue dress with the vneck and ruffles was my favorite, and it looks like I'm not alone- its auction price is higher than the winning designs right now.

I was sorry to see Wesley go so early because he might have had some interesting designs in him, and for pure watching enjoyment it would have helped to lose one of the younger women that I cannot tell apart right now.

But at least now Wesley can give PeeWee Herman his wardrobe back.
