I just saw last week's Shear Genius, and just have to ask where they get these people. Those cuts were bad. And do people really spend an hour doing their hair so that they are happy to cut that time to 1/2 hour? Isn't the point of going to a good stylist to get a cut that you don't have to worry about?

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Project Runway: TV Guide has a "where are they now" feature up for past contestants. (Finalists and winners - I believe.)

My feeling, too. But they get soooo many women with long hair, who won't consider anything less than shoulder length. Just blow drying long hair takes a half hour, much less the time spent straightening/curling it or anything like that. And did you notice how the judges gigged the stylist whose model didn't fully dry her hair in order to put twist curls in? Those poor stylists couldn't win for losing.
However, I agree that the stylists on this season are mostly crap. I think my daughter could do a better job them most of them. I mean, Oshun? Nekisa? Hell, I could do better than Nekisa.

Does it talk about the current season?
Nope, not at all.

I guess this is why I don't blow dry my hair. The thought of just standing there doing that for any amount of time makes me want to claw my eyes out.
I'm with megan. my hair looks great, has lots of body when dried with a round brush, but I can't stand it.
I wouldn't even own a hair dryer if the former tenant of my last Brooklyn apt didn't get a promotional one sent to her in the mail years after living there.

Seriously! I give mine five minutes tops. Really I just try to dry my bangs and let the rest of my hair fend for itself. And my hairdresser knows I'm like that and cuts my hair accordingly. Yeah, it looks great when she totally dries it and flatirons it or whatever but I think it still looks good enough air dried.
Ha! I will just sit in the corner clutching my hot comb, flat iron, 3 1/2 inch barrel curling iron, 1 1/2 barrel curling iron, hair oil, styling paste, and various and sundry other styling products. If I let my hair air anything after I washed it, things would not be pretty.
Having said that, I agree that most of the stylists on this year's Shear Genius are less than impressive.
SYTYCD soon! Unlike the folks on SG, these fools have been mostly turning it out this season.
