Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

'Til we dance away...

Ack! I was scared for Courtney and Gev there for a minute until it was made pretty clear they would make it through the night. It does mean they are vulnerable, though. I'm fine with Kourtni going home. Matt and Thayne were a bit interchangable to me- neither overly capable of showing much chemistry in the sexy dances and both carrying themselves too high, I guess. My knowledge of contemporary isn't good enough to find many differences between the two of them although Matt appeared to take things more seriously and I did find him more believeable.

I still think I must be missing something with Comfort. I found her solo tonight to be kind of boring.

So, Matt/Khourtni went home? I think that's about as good a choice as any of the rest of them. They were a beautiful couple together, but just not quite ready for prime time. I'd love to see Khourtni come back with a little more experience under her belt and a sense of how she can own the stage if she'd just take it.

Thayne and Comfort will be going home, within the next two weeks I'd say. Same with Courtney/Gev, even though I know they're the favorites of a number of people. Most of the folks who leave this early are ones who either can't shift to new styles easily (Comfort) or ones who have the technique but can't translate the emotions (Thayne.)

I'm also afeared for Twitchington. I love Twitch to death, but you can see he's still not quite comfortable about stepping out of his specialty. He's doing a great job learning it all, but there's still a tentativeness to it that show's up in his shoulders.

Note: All these observations are based on Wednesday night. I was innertubeless and TV deprived last night, so I didn't see last night's solos. Still, most of the folks showing up in the bottom three aren't going to make it to the final four, so I feel pretty safe in my analysis.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I don't think you have to worry about Twitch; it seems clear he's a big audience favorite, no matter what he does.

You really can't underestimate the power of the shirtless hotness. I'll be shocked if Josh, Mark and Twitch aren't the top three boys this year. Katee and Chelsie seem like locks for top 2 girls with the other spot really up for grabs.

Hi, I just watched this, finally.

Oh, and the camera work totally sucked!

Entirely and completely.

And I love Cabaret to bits and pieces, but this show just can't seem to handle it.

Kat, I'm surprised to hear you liked Comfort's solo. I watched it, and thought "Damn, girl, did you just totally think "Fuck it, I'm going home, why bother?" I thought it was her worst solo yet. And so I wasn't at all surprised by Nigel's comments. I think she's an awesome dancer, but she reallllly needs to work on her solos.

I was very disappointed Thayne was not sent home, but on the other hand, I can't really see Comfort and Matt dancing together, so ah well. Then again, I can't quite see how Comfort and Thayne will make it through next week, so...

I am not at all afeared for Twitch. I think he, Mark, Josh, and Will have those top four guy spots locked up, surely?

And just to show that I have no real hate on for East Coast swing, I'm off to an East Coast workshop for a few hours. :)

Art Crawl!!!

Design Star: I was so worried that the best designers would go this week. I hate the folks on that other team so much that I couldn't at all appreciate what they were doing.

NFNS: Shane (and Kelsey) need to get out there and work in restaurants or something. Also, Kelsey doesn't help matters by dressing like a little girl. I'm pleased with how well Aaron did and surprised that Adam did so well with the food part of the challenge.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I happened to see an ep of NFNS, and I think that they all suck. The cooking was dreadful (I saw the ep where they had to reinvent a long dish in 45 minutes), and I couldn't believe how bad they all were. And someone was going to get into Bon Appetit with that? FAIL.
