Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

Because books.

I've switched to Food Network Star, but I have to say I'm much less interested now that Mary Beth is gone. She was far from perfect, but I was really interested in seeing what she could do with a whole show.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

I'm sure Mary Beth will end up with a show on the Cooking Channel or the Style network or something like that. I think she'd be far better off with a show where she eats rather than a show where she cooks though.

I agree. And they've done that with other people who didn't make it to the final (or did and didn't win). I was thinking even a show about "finding it fresh" or something, where she could travel all over and spotlight local markets or whatever.

Yeah, that's why I said it. I've seen previous runner-ups all over the place and in some cases their shows are more interesting than what the winners come up with. Find it fresh, is a good idea. Going around to farmer's markets and local specialty food stores around the country.

I'm very disappointed with the results of NFNS. I hope that the other two end up with shows somewhere as well.

Yeah, out of the two finalists, I really would have preferred Suzi win.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I would have enjoyed Suzi's (Vic's probably even more) but I think the concept of the winning show is interesting and not something that's out there right now.

(I have to say I was starting to get tired of the "things my father did/did not anticipate when he crossed the border" theme.)

Vic was my favorite. I always thought Suzi's food looks delicious. I'm just not interested in a show about sandwiches, plus I find what's his name is annoying.

Yeah, I was surprised Vic didn't make it. He was adorable.

information libertarian

I just had a brainflash of Jilli on NFNS. Note I've never seen the show, and I have no idea if Jilli can cook, but the image was pretty stunning, I must say.
