Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Dale Levitski (faux-hawk Dale from Chicago) was just named a semifinalist for a Best Chef: Great Lakes James Beard award (which is a regional award), and Stephanie Izard's The Girl and the Goat has been named Semifinalist for the Outstanding New Restaurant James Beard Award by the same group.
That's excellent.
I'm thrilled. Stephanie got so much shit for winning and of course it is clear to all that she absolutely deserved it.
ANTM - Tyra's really pushing it trying to come up with new and exciting ways to put the girls to the test. And she's getting mean(er).
You know what I miss? Make me a supermodel, that's what.
Me too, Perkins. It's been a long time since I could watch ANTM without cringing, and I liked having boys and girls on Make Me a Supermodel.
You know what I miss? Make me a supermodel, that's what.
Aw yeah.
I failed to give up ANTM. I'm watching it right now!
I enjoyed Raja's "smize 'till you bleed" takeoff on Tyra on this week's Drag Race. And I've been very content with the eliminations so far. Also excited that Stacey's still in it - even though I'm from NC and have never heard of Back Swamp.
I'm still hoping to get to Bayless's Xoco,
I went there the last time I was in Chicago (and ran into Brenda, hilariously), and it was fabulous. I recommend the pork belly vermicelli.
Mike Isabella is a flaming ass. He should have at least offered to split the money with Richard or given him a nice gift. I almost would have liked him better if he had refused to acknowledge that it was Richard's dish, rather than say it was Richard's idea, but he executed it.
