Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I missed the entire last half of this season, but I`m glad the doctors won.
The selection of teams really did look rather skewed.
I'd hve given anything to have the Clowns back.
Still, it should be interesting to see some of the teams who deserved a second shot back!
Sing-off
Well, the Committed boys brought it, but I think it`s clear to me at this point that Streetcorner Symphony are far and away my favorite. I still love the redemption story of the Persuasions guy, but he doesn`t need to win; at this point his career is momentarily rekindled regardless.
Streetcorner Symphony is my favorite, too, by a lot. And my least favorite is the Backbeats. I'm not sure what they're still doing there, because they always sound too ... contrived? Over-produced, if that's possible? (Maybe I should say over-arranged.)
I am sorry Groove For Thought went home, but "Changes" really isn't a hard rock song, and I think that counted against them.
Streetcorner Symphony should not be allowed to dance under any conditions.
So, last weekend, I was watching some Millionaire Matchmaker (as you do), and one of the women was super-familiar. I thought maybe she had been on an earlier episode of MM, but no. I thought maybe Tough Love? But no. So I just scoured the VH1 website, until I figured out she was the runner-up on the Antonio Sabato Jr show. FML.
::shuns Jesse, just a little::
Loving all of that crap really is my (not so) secret shame.

I think that losing the words and going off key was what killed them, although I didn't like their song. It was the first time I'd seen the show, but the two songs I saw were very jazzy. I understand that they have their style, but they need to be able to adapt to the challenge. But, again, I'm a first timer.
I liked Committed a lot, loved both of their songs. I thought that their first critique was really harsh, but if they'd knocked it out of the park before, I can see how this was just "good".
As with Jesse, I loved all of the "guilty pleasure" songs. "Kyrie" was amazing. Made me want to pull out my Mr. Mister LPs. I would have no where to play them, but I could get them out.
