Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I suspect that often the "extra" task is meant as much as a psychological deterent as an actual significant speedbump. Thus you get stuff like Sauna Bus or feeding Orangutans for a Fast Forward.
Or maybe the organizers said "screw it, we don't have an extra camera crew... okay, make 'em sit in ice chairs for ten minutes and the clue box film crew can cover it...."

I was wondering if the originally planned Speed Bump fell through, myself. Because it sure felt like a segment producer going "What, I don't know - oh fuck it, just sit over there."
At least, emotionally it doesn't feel to me like nasty people got an undeserved bonus. Getting on the early flight would have been enough to keep them ahead of the pack even with a lengthier task.
Eh. They were the first to think to try to find a better flight (IIRC, the only ones to think of it without prompting). And lame speed bump or no, they left the ice house at least 10 minutes after the other teams with them and still made it to the Detour first. It was nice to see them get back into it basically on their own game play.
Nothing on Survivor? Both eliminations were wronger than wrong. And I now think that Brenda is kinda evil.
Evil and awesome.
Though I cannot believe they let Marty skate by.
Yeah, seriously- they should have voted off Marty there, he is gonna be mad and cause trouble for Brenda. PS, I lurve her.
I love that she is really playing the game. But I think the whole team was needlessly harsh on Kelly B.
It makes me uncomfortable, their treatment of Kelly.
