Ivy's outfit, on the other hand, looked like something *I* could have made. There was nothing there! WTF? Plus, she's arrogant and nowhere near as talented as she thinks she is.
Exactly! Ugh.
I kind of loved Mondo's outfit even though it really wasn't Fashion's version of "Resort" wear. It was ridic but cute. I'm so glad he made it through.
It's funny - at first I thought this was the stupidest twist PR had ever done, but when it came time to judge I started to come around. The Ivy/Michael D pairing really did show off the differences between designing and making clothes.
The only change I would have made would have been to give them extra time. Sketching something for yourself to construct is a completely different process than sketching something to hand over to another person, even if you're going to be standing right there to explain things. Even an extra hour on the second day would have helped a lot of people.

Agreed. I thought it was totally cute.
I don't know why they bagged on him so hard.
I thought Mondo's outfit was adorable.
I liked the bikini and the jacket but together isn't really my thing but they were both cute. I was so surprised and pleased at Mondo's turnaround about Michael C - at the end they were sitting on the couch with their arms around each other. So different than the beginning of the episode. Mkes you wonder how much of Ivy and Gretchen's influence was behind it.
The best line of the night about Ivy was Michael Kors saying "she's a seamstress, not a designer" and I just said "ohhhh snap!!!" All through the episode, every time she was on screen talking, I punctuated her conversaiton with "and I'm a bitch".
Mondo's outfit was cute, but it did scream "juniors" to me.

Heh.
Mondo's outfit was cute, but it did scream "juniors" to me.
Don't teens go to the beach too?
It drives me bonkers that the designers are supposed to design for a very narrow and poorly defined age range, and are raked across the coals if they dare to deviate from Nina's idea of what is "young but sophisticated."
But I think "resort wear" is different in terms of customer. "Resort wear" says to me, essentially, woman of means shopping for a fairly luxe vacation.
Teens go to the beach, yeah, but most teens shop for summer at Forever 21 and Old Navy.
I could see a young Fergie (the singer) in Mondo's outfit. Someone in their 20s. The bikini screamed Katy Perry to me.
