Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own

This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]

Ugh... the more I'm reading the TARcon thread, the less I'm liking TAR.

Seems like they're casting specific couples more and more (like they were specifically looking for cops and lesbians).

Caite and Brent actually broke up before the show taped, but the producers told them to fake it.

You get a certain amount of money for whatever place you finish, but producers can pay you more if you're "storyline" is interesting. (I'd guess they're encouraging drama)

I also hate the stunt casting. They waived the age restriction so that Caite could run the race.

It seems like the less I know, the more I enjoy it.

Reality TV is not real. Sad, but true.

This is kind of a relief, actually, given how much they seemed to hate each other. But

Jet used a slur in speaking to Jordan at TARcon

ick. feh

Art Crawl!!!

Very disappointed in Jet. Very. And to be that rude in front of Dan and Jordan's mother is just. . . you are so not the person I thought you were.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

At least Caite and Brent didn't pretend to be all fake-schmoopy.

I'd prefer to see some additional reporting on the slur -- if it comes from just one hearsay source it could possibly have been misheard or made up out of whole cloth, et cetera.

OMG, Iman to co-host Bravo's Fashion Show with Isaac Mizrahi

I watched it last season and was meh, largely because I thought that the cohost was a dud, and that Isaac needed to be reined in. I think that both issues are taken care of with IMAN, BITCHES!!!!

Whoa, Vortex really did substitute her own reality there for a minute!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Iman is the shit on PR: Canada. I cannot fucking wait for this.

Theo,

I know what you mean by additional reporting, but Dan & Jordan mentioned how homophobic the cowboys were in an interview with The Advocate (at least I've seen this mentioned) so I think that might be all the corroboration I need.

"We have trust issues." Mylar

I'm so disappointed in Jet. Oh, Cowboys. Why couldn't you stay gold?

I just read the Iman news. I didn't watch The Fashion Show S1 because it just seemed like a desparate PR rip off, but you best believe I will be there for Iman. Oh, my word! I just hope she doesn't turn out to be underwhelming like ALT on Top Model. Glad to hear good things about her stint on PR Canada. Poor Kelly Rowland. First dumped by Beyonce now fired from TFS.
