Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I totally can't watch the Idol auditions for that reason. In fact, it pretty much turns me off the entire franchise.
Dude! I just bought Top Chef's Kevin's polenta with meatballs off the Schwan's truck! I love Schwans. They also have something from Ilia, LeAnne, Trey & CJ, and...someone else I misremember. We shall have to see how it turns out.
Oh, do report back. I was thinking of ordering that. Kevin's was the only one that really appealed to me, though I don't remember the details.
Will do. I am quite excited about it. Well, as excited as one gets about frozen food products. But still! Kevin!
That article about HGTV/Food Network was fascinating. I had no idea how the subscription revenues broke down. I really wish there were part and parcel packages available. I would pay 50 cents a month for Food Network, but definitely not for a bunch of the other channels I receive.
In fact, I could probably have Discovery, Bravo, Food Network, BBC, SyFy, TNT, & CN, plus locals, and never notice the difference. Okay, and CSpan. And ESPN. And Comedy. Okay, I probably need the damn package.
Why You Can't Watch Food Network or HGTV on Cablevision
The article tries to be fair to both sides, but I know from co-workers downstairs at the channel (which is not currently on Cablevision) and my own as a customer that Cablevision is run by cheap assholes. I don't blame Scripps one bit in this fight.
Guess what I found on Create this morning?

I don't think that WTTW (local PBS station) even showed it but there it was.
Looks like a fun season.
It does, although I pray to God that Rupert goes home early.
Oh you guys, we just got back from Vegas and while we were wandering the Venetian I made the gang stop at Bouchon Bakery for cookies. Hands down the best macaroons I’ve had a long, long time. Also? We saw Hubert Keller walking towards Burger Bar so it was a Top Chef Vegas trip!
Worst Chef in America: They're doing shellfish again? And I still think I would like this show better if they focused on home-style cooking rather than restaurant-style.
