Yeah, is that the way fashionistas pronounce Louboutin? Because, it's an actual guy's name and he's actually French, and that's not how you say that in French.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I always thought it was "tine" not "taan" among other pronunciation issues.
"taan" is correct in French, as in "coq au vin."
I got all distracted by Cat saying she was wearing Manolos and what that says about maybe a generational divide in fancy footwear and now I can't really recall the song.

Well, I don't know about fashionistas, but Christian Louboutin pronounces it Loo-boo-ta[n](as in vin). And I'm pretty sure that's what Cat said as well.
OMG. Tells you how far out of the loop I am. I thought she was saying Louis Vuitton (sp?) and I was thinking, "I didn't know they made shoes!"
Me=out of touch with today's fashions. Obviously.
That's what I first heard too. Seriously, it sounded like she was saying Lou Baton.
kat, I'm reading through your blog posts on this season, and, well, loved this initial impression of Russell:
Russell Ferguson – Is OMG amazing. My word, darlings! I must agree with Nigel that he is by far the best krumper they have ever had on the show. If they were going to pass a street dancer straight through to Vegas, why on earth wasn’t it him? Any dancer with the level of body control that this kid displayed in his routine will be able to pick up other styles. Trust that this is so. And he has charisma for days and a smile that lights up a room. If he can hold on to all that swagger through the demands of Vegas, I can see him in the Top 20 for sure.
Right? I heard it that way too and wouldn't have worked it out without the Buffistas. Buffistas, handy! Anyway, it definitely isn't supposed to rhyme with "on" as it does in the song, right?
However, I am okay with not having any idea what shoe is supposed to be awesome, because I only wear the one pair (currently, vegan Earth shoes with a negative heel, yes, I am that person.) and any shoe with a colored sole assumes that I am living and working in a completely different terrain than the entirely hostile one in which I actually am.
Yay for first impressions. I love it when it bears it out like that. The SO is notorious for his ability to do this. He picked the Nashville Star winners out from day one every season except one (let us not speak of it, ahem, Erika Jo), and he picked Russell in this too. He's funny because he doesn't watch reality really at all, but gets sucked in when I watch the talent/skill based ones.
