Okay, I think can-can needs to go in the bin with Russian folk dance.

Thrive to spite them

I wasn't so impressed by the cha cha, I think it's Ashliegh, she leaves me cold. Technically good but just not exciting to watch.

Legacy and Kathryn, their waltz had issues but there was such a connection and it felt so real.

I would really like to see Legacy and Ellanore together. I think that would be a good partnership.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ellenore and Victor would be the cutest.

But maybe that's just me.

I think Victor is adorable. Not the best dancer of the bunch, but adorable.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

So much for that post--cat just walked across the keyboard and zapped it.

Anyway, as I was saying, loved the tango the first time I watched it, but after Nigel pointed out the swayed back on Victor, I can't pay attention to anything else on rewatch.

Such a good week! I think I counted at least five or six dances I'll be putting on my best-of disc at the end of the season.

Loved Ryan and Ellanore's dances. That Lindy hop was a blast, and the Broadway number was perfect for her. Also loved both of Jakob and Ashleigh's numbers. She really ruled that cha-cha (although she played to the camera waaaay too much), and Sonja's number was terrific.

Jakob is a perfect counterpart to this summer's blonde technically perfect but unable to connect with the audience contestant whose name I am currently blanking on, because he is also technically perfect, but he can really project charisma and chemistry.

Hate to say it, but Russell and Noelle didn't do too much for me today. What is the problem most dancers have with the samba on this show? It's up there with the Dreaded Quickstep in unsuccessful performances. Their contemporary piece was good, but rather forgettable.

Legacy and Kathryn's jazz number was much better (thank you for shirtless Legacy!!!). And, he did better with that waltz than I was expecting--I was thinking along the lines of Chbeeb debacle.

Molly and Nathan--eh.

Bottom three (for me): Molly and Nathan, Victor and Karen (did not really like the hip hop and his back is annoying me in the tango), and (hate to say it!) Russell and Noelle. I hope that Molly and Nathan are gone after tomorrow.

Mr. Liff is schooling Tasty on how Broadway should be done! I loved that Ellenore/Ryan piece more than my new purple pumps. Ellenore is amazing. I'm totally with Shankdaddy. When she whipped that leg down into a perfectly turned out first position? What? I want Ellenore/Jakob at some point once we start partner swapping. Ellenore/Jakob + Wade or Sonya. Ryan was really good here, too. He totally got the character and his technique was very, very solid. This was extremely stylized movement and he nailed it. Well done, all the way round. Their Lindy Hop was cute, I guess, but I just don't enjoy Lindy on this show. It was the best Lindy they've had, but that's not saying much. They were clean, at least, lots of energy and spunk.

My other faves of the night were, shockingly, Jakob and Fug Princess. And tonight, I have to give it up to FP. She was surprisingly good in that lyrical jazz. Jakob was perfection, but I expected that. Sonya did a little too much stand around here while Jakob does something amazing in the piece, but that one lift where she flipped over into a back bend to the floor was lovely. And FP turned it all the way out in that Cha Cha. She was mighty, mighty.

I really loved that Russell/Noelle contemporary. Part of it may be due to the fact that I love that song and Diana Krall, so they kind of already had me. But really, I found the piece just lovely. Tasty is really a fine contemporary/lyrical choreographer. I wish he'd just do that on the show. Russell just has an amazing quality of movement. He's mesmerizing. And Noelle was grand in this. I really felt a connection between the two of them. The samba was painful, most especially for Noelle. The girl just can't shake it like a polaroid picture. No hip action whatsoever. Russell was better, but overall it wasn't good.

Legacy/Kathryn also had an up and down night for me. Shirtless Legacy? All day long and twice on Sundays, please. And what's more, that routine was sexy as all get out. These two do have great chemistry. Sonya skated very close to catering too much to Legacy's b-boy roots for my taste, but it worked. It was fun and funky and sexy. Did I say sexy? Because, yeah. Their Viennese Waltz was not good. Kathryn gave it the old college try and many of her lines were spectacular. Legacy was bad. I'm glad that he was moved by his own performance, but keep those tears and give me some good dancing. Shoulders up around his ears. The posture was all wrong. The feet were a horror show. There was no flow across the floor. Yuck. Now I will picture him shirtless to wipe the bad taste away. Ahhhh. All better.

I didn't like anything that either Mollee/Nathan or Karen/Victor did tonight. Victor and his stuck out booty killed me in that tango. It was really bad. He looked like he was squatting over the toilet. It was so distracting. Karen was serving in that piece, but Victor's carriage just - I couldn't get over it. And the hip hop. Lord. He was so so bad. Painfully bad. I don't really know how Karen did because I was actually a little bit traumatized by how bad, how completely unbelievable he was. And they were all kinds of off throughout the piece. It was like they were doing two distinct dances. Also, the piece was crap. Definitely not LaurieAnn's finest hour. Mollee/Nathan? What is there left to say. I hate them. Both. Equally. Nathan absolutely destroyed in that, admittedly horrific, hip hop. He destroyed. And I didn't even care. Still hated him. (And this new hip hop kid from SYTYCD CA? He's 0 for 2. Alexander Graham Bell? Really?) Mollee really was not going after it in that hip hop. And she's hurt? Suck it up, girl scout. Donyelle danced hard every night with a broken toe S2. S2 Natalie was practically in a back brace by the end of the season and she still turned it out every. single. time. The Can Can. I refuse.

B3 should be Karen/Victor, Mollee/Nathan and either Russell/Noelle or Legacy/Kathryn. (Probably Russell/Noelle) I'd actually be very excited if (continued...)
