"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, that sounds terrible. And predictable. I am so sick of scallops!

TAR: I cannot believe how reprehensible Canaan's behavior was. If I were the water park dude, I would have thrown them out of there so fast. I would say I'm glad that they're out so she doesn't have to spend any more time with his ass, but it looks from the wrap up like she thinks it's her fault. "There's freedom in forgiveness?" WTF? You forgive her? Asshole.

I was saddened to see the Globetrotters' comments, but agree that they hadn't seen the worst of the breakdown and had no way of knowing how bad off she was. And in all honesty, some of the stuff they were saying was stuff that Canaan should have been saying to her, like you don't have to do anything you don't want to. Of course, coming from a competitor instead of a partner, it's a whole different thing to say. But still, I didn't think so much of what they were saying was that bad, just unfortunate.

I still don't understand what "air" is. I keep hearing it on the various chef contest shows but I can't imagine it.

I think that it's supposed to be a lighter foam.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I would say I'm glad that they're out so she doesn't have to spend any more time with his ass, but it looks from the wrap up like she thinks it's her fault.

Well, it kind of is. Though I agree that there's a slightly greater chance she'd have worked herself up to it if he hadn't been so abusive about it. I was a little horrified at the waterpark guy just standing there unmoving while she's screaming "help". But I'm sure they're very clear about not interfering with the contestants, and it's not like there weren't camera people and others from the show there who would have a little more freedom to act. (And noting also that she wasn't in any actual danger, other than the danger of finding out what a bone-deep fucker her boyfriend really is.)

I don't think it was the globetrotter's finest moment, but I don't think it was that bad either. Their tone throughout seemed very much in the trashtalking vein, not really any malice to it.

ETA: Picture how it would have gone down if the Globetrotters had arrived while Canaan was trying to muscle her down the slide and she was screaming "help me, help me!" I'm guessing they'd have responded quite differently. Because that really was horrifying. When they got there it was her sitting there trying to work herself up to it and whining and whimpering a lot. [And dude, it's a waterslide.] I'm not surprised they didn't take it more seriously.

I agree. And the waterpark guy looked very much like he would have loved to be anywhere else in that moment.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, Russell!

SYTYCD!!!!!

Love the new set. Cat looks twelve different kinds of fabulous. I love Shankdaddy on the permanent judge panel. Paula can come rain crazy on this show any time she wants to. That Wade piece was gorgeous. The hip hop boys are better than what they were given. That said, I love me some Russell and Kevin.

I don't even have any words yet for that Tyce contemporary. Ariana was a dream, and Nathan's turn sequence was one of the best since the days of Danny. But Jakob. Jakob is . . . no words. That kid is the truth.

I think that NappyTab is incredibly overrated.

I know I have permanent Bianca hate goggles on because I just cannot get past how stank she was when she didn't make the show last season, but I just felt like she got outdanced in that tap number. There were moments when she was literally standing on the stage making the come hither fingers while P&P tapped circles around her. Philip was everything I expected, smooth and polished. His tapping is very old school, kind of Nicholas brothers. I was surprised how much I liked Peter! He was personality plus in that routine and his set was crazy.

I felt the Ellanore/Pauline/Mollee jazz lacked something. Those girls can do more than what they were asked to do. It was very powerful and there were some beautiful moments. All three girls on the double turns early in the routine were lovely and centered. And Ellanore had a nice moment with that extension coming out of a single turn. To turn and then hold that extension like she did is incredibly difficult. I wanted more out of the routine, though. And the wardrobe hos? Still on that monkey crack.

I'm really glad I can now keep just the good parts of these shows and string them together into one long best-of episode.
