Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What's this now?!

It's in this week's Us or similar -- apparently she was married for years to a guy who beat the shit out of her, raped her, etc. She finally went to her parents, and they were like, you have to make this marriage work. Poor thing. It actually makes me think that's why she's so much with the manic laughter.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

She was on Larry King talking about this. Her ex-husband is not from the U.S. I don't know where he is from.

Thrive to spite them

I bought the issue of US magazine with the article (she's on the cover).

It's a really good article. Her ex is from Saudia Arabia I think, if not there somewhere in the Middle East.

She says it was really dance that saved her, she saw an ad for a dance instructor, no experience needed, and she applied. She'd taken some dance in college but she wasn't trained at all until she started that job. She was asked to go to a competition and realized that's what she wanted to do. Her husband wasn't happy and that caused more problems.

She did leave him and divorce him but then they got back together and she was going to remarry him with a huge wedding in his home country and someone told her that he had proposed to another woman right before he had convinced her to come back to him and Mary called off the wedding.

and Mary called off the wedding.

Wait. Mary Murphy called off Mia's wedding? Because that would be one hell of an ending to this story!

Wow, what a terrible tale. It's like that Sally Field TV movie, Not Without My Daughter, except not like that at all, but kind of. I can see now why she's so crunchy earth mama. And why she loves untrained dancers so much and their raw energy. Sigh. I will miss Mia. So much crazy potential right out the window.

My take on your top 20 if anyone is interested.

kat, the whole thing is about Mary, not Mia.

Mary called off her remarriage to her abusive ex husband.

Oh, OK. I was so confused. I somehow substituted Mia for Mary, which is scary on many, many different levels. I should probably lay off the Dayquil.

Huh. Well, I can definitely see Mary in the Sally Field role in Not Without My Daughter more readily than I can see Mia.

PR:

Michael Kors has me screaming in laughter tonight. His remark about "Greece" nearly had me off the couch.

On Project Runway, when they said, "That's clothes, not fashion," the "wearable" semi-insult finally makes some sense to me.

Because books.

SO glad Michael and Nina are back tonight.
