To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Mike I is just the world's biggest ass, isn't he?

Oh, no. I think Eli is beginning to give Misogyny Mike a run for his money. In fact, if I had to get rid of just one of them right now, I suspect I'd go with Eli. This surprises me a little.

I love Kevin, too. But I would be happy if Jen or either of the brothers V. won, too, on sheer talent.

Yeah, I'm squarely in Jen's corner right now, but if it comes down to these four, it's going to be a hell of a finale.

Huh. Eli wasn't bothering me as much this ep as he was last, but I wasn't giving the show my full attention either.

I keep wondering if they're giving Robin a kind of Carla edit.

I dunno, Ron (I think it was) said much the same about Robin's chatterbox tendencies, though he was much more polite about it.

I agree with Perkins. I found Eli much less annoying last night than the week before (I think - when he went off on Robin).

As for Mike I...he looked so disappointed not to be called to the judges table at all (even for elimination), it makes me wonder if he hoped he could get Robin sent home if they were in that group (though, as he kept insisting, everything they did was HIS idea).

And what was up with Ash's toady routine at judge's table. That was embarassing.

IMO, Mike I. was more annoying last night than he's been in weeks. He was so blatantly dismissive of Robin.

Nice to see Jen get a win, and a nice prize, too!! And I loved that Kevin trusted in his skills enough to take the $15K instead of immunity. I really hope that these two will be in the final three finale.

Because books.

I liked Eli so much in the beginning! But his comments about Robin last week really pissed me off. I didn't notice anything last night, but that could have been because I was ranting to S. about how much I loathe Mike I.

Both Jen and Kevin seem to have the best skills at working with other people, in addition to being two of the best (IMO THE two best) chefs.

and they are very different chefs - and do different kinds of food. I liked them as a team.

Because books.

I liked how worried Brian was for his brother, too. And that exchange with Kevin about waiting to let the losers talk about their dishes could have been so different with other people, but he was so mellow about it.

Ok, that's what I thought.

TC: Eli also really bugged me last night. And I was really happy for both Jen and Kevin last night.

It was terrific how Kevin, as unversed as he says he is in Asian food, was able to create a Vietnamese inspired dish for the quickfire. Now, it could be that he's more experienced in that cuisine than he says, but it does mean that he's able to create stuff on the fly.

Robin's attempt at Middle Eastern by turning out something vaguely Indian is an example of how not to create stuff out of thin air.
