And Kaylee, what the hell's goin' on in the engine room? Were there monkeys? Some terrifying space monkeys maybe got loose?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I'd forgotten about Ash's Sondheim shoutout during last night's Top Chef! When they were gathered around the campfire the night before the elim challenge, and someone was talking about the various animals that might be out there.

Someone: "Bears?"
Ash: "Bears? Bears are sweet!"

Gotta love showtune lyric quotes in the middle of the desert.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Survivor: Dude, Russell- what? Although I like him more than Coach. Russell is crazy in a much more insane and amusing (to me) way.

The choosing the Asian chick as the smartest was pretty predictable, and I thought it was funny that Mr. Black Water Polo Champion dude getting picked as the best swimmer was hilarious because everyone (including him) was like, "wait, black people on this show can't swim!" And he smoked everyone. And looked gooood doing it.

Ah, ethnic stereotypes. Although I kind of felt like the show was kind of calling them out instead of being (completely) stupid with them.

Ah, misogyny. "dumb-ass girl alliance." Again, was kind of meta as well. It will be interesting to see if the stereotypes get blown to hell this season, given all the foreshadowing in this episode.

Who the hell was Angry Dude on the Yellow Team? (ETA: not Crazy Russell, the guy with the kerchief who was all over Marisa's shit.)

Also, I laughed and laughed and laughed at the engineer trying to build the shelter while everyone was seething and tuning out. Hottest rocket scientist I have ever seen though.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Shit, I didn't realize that started tonight. Stupid Survivor (and Amazing Race) with the changing the name every season.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Although I like him more than Coach. Russell is crazy in a much more insane and amusing (to me) way.

Oh hell no - I'd even take Fairplay over Russell. I hate him that much. Maybe he'll get eaten by a shark, though.

MY FUCKING CABLEVISION PIECE OF SHIT DVR DID NOT RECORD TOP CHEF. A-FUCKING-GAIN.

Instead, it taped some random house-flipping show at 2:30am, and it didn't even do THAT properly - half the show was missing!

My Tivo will be here on Monday. My Tivo will be here on Monday. My Tivo will be here on Monday.

The over the top crazy is entertaining to me though for some reason. I want him to get his comeuppance though.

I don't think I can emphasize enough how VERY MUCH I hated Coach. Since Russell is the Anti-Coach, I do begrudgingly find him an interesting player.

NOT COOL burning Water Polo's socks though. NOT COOL RUSSELL.

To me, Coach was just so freaking earnest that I couldn't attribute any malice to him. He really did honestly believe in his whole dragon-slayer Be The Best You Can Be schtick.

Russell is intentionally being a misogynist fuckwad, and he knows it. Coach was frequently intolerable, but he was never mean.

Because books.

Project Runway: Who told Eva Longoria and the other guest judge to dress alike?

I can't believe Carol Hannah's dress wasn't in the top tier. But Irina's coat is really spectacular.

It surprised me that no really *truly* bombed tonight. There wasn't one "My eyes!" horror. Even Johnny's is just boring.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I actually didn't like the trench coat. I would have liked it to be a color, I think, but keep the "fur" on the collar and sleeves natural. Almost like a shearling coat.

And I disagree with their assesment of Gordanna's dress. I really liked it.

Altheia's was my favorite. Again.

Because books.

I lied -- the "punk" thing was a disaster.

I loved, loved, loved Carol Hannah's, though Christopher's is really a stand-out, too.

And I agree about the coat in one sense, Aims -- I would have preferred she dyed it or something.
