Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I'm still in denial about Paula not being on Idol next season. The same way that I am in denial that Judge #4 will somehow be back despite her complete and utter fail at life.
I've wanted Paula on SYTYCD for a long time. I wouldn't want her on the panel permanently, but I would love for her to be a choreographer and a guest judge every now and again. I mean, last season when she did that choreography for the AI kids, that is the happiest I've ever seen her. I love happy, fun Paula who is high on life and love of dance and not what's in her "Coke" cup.
I think they didn't do Wade's pieces last night because the Spy vs. Spy piece would have required stairs and the Crash Test Dummies piece would've needed Kupono's original partner whose name completely escapes me just at present and I don't think they had anyone other than the top 10 doing partner dances.
Vitolio and Asuka weren't top 10 were they? I assumed no test dummies because of the make-up. I mean I get there were reason for no Wade piece (and maybe that is why he had two on the 100th), but it bothered me.
also the spy piece would have meant 3! Brandon and Jeanette pieces and really, while completely right in the world, probably would not have flown. For me the Branson/Jeanette hip hop/rock could have also been on there.
I could have had an entire night of Brandon/Janette myself. And I totally forgot that Asuka and Vitolio even performed that waltz last night. What a wasted pick. That one and Shankdaddy's pick of that NappyTab hip hop were just all kinds of head scratchingly wrong.
Maybe Wade's on punishment for the cheerleader routine?
I remember in the season 3 finale Sara was in 3 or 4 of the judges favorite dances! She so should have been in the top 4. *still bitter*
I'm not sure she was really top 4 material, but she was certainly one of my favorites. She also happened to be in very fun numbers.
Sara was in a lot of fun numbers. I still have a lot of love for that old school hip hop number she did with Danny. I don't care that the judges didn't like it. The t-shirts with the puffy paint? Fat gold ropes? Kangol hats? Push It? I believe they even did the worm in that routine. Shane Sparks turned it out with that one.
Yay, Jeanine!
I managed to not get spoiled by dint of not going on the internet at all for two days until I was finally able to watch late last night. Totally pleased with both the result and how it went down. Thank goodness, America!
I was equally befuddled by some of the "favorites" choices. I definitely think there were some weaker pieces this year overall, so the finale was a bit subdued. But I really enjoy seeing the dancers redo the choreography, especially with dancers like Jeanine who have blossomed so much during the process. They're a different dancer from when they started, and they bring a different energy to an established piece.
I know that the dancers want a chance to show what they do, themselves. But I wish there was room in the program for choreographed solos too. I think we would learn a lot about a dancer by how she responds to an individual choreographed piece of material.
I think I'm actually going to enjoy the rest of the season of Big Brother.
