Art Crawl!!!

We've under a deluge again. And the temperature has dropped from about 86 to 73 since it started raining.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I long for rain.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Made me think of this:

The rain continued. It was a hard rain, a perpetual rain, a sweating and steaming rain; it was a mizzle, a downpour, a fountain, a whipping at the eyes, an undertow at the ankles; it was a rain to drown all rains and the memory of rains. It came by the pound and the ton, it hacked at the jungle and cut the trees like scissors and shaved the grass and tunneled the soil and molted the bushes. It shrank men's hands into the hands of wrinkled apes; it rained a solid glassy rain, and it never stopped. - Ray Bradbury.

I wonder if Bradbury would get published in today's market. Actually, I wonder that about many literary greats. Would Ulysses have a chance today?

thinky, avoiding work.

Art Crawl!!!

We're under 3 different weather warnings now - most recently - a flash flood warning.

And the temperature is now below 70 degrees.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I wonder if Bradbury would get published in today's market.

I try not to think about that idea, because it makes me wince a lot. Ray Bradbury is one of my personal pantheon.

He'd probably get a bunch of rejection letters saying, "There are no martians."

He had a lot of influence on me, both in my thinking and in my writing style. I've actually tried to tone down the Bradbury-ness, out of a sense that it's maybe overwhelming.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

It's headed this way. Yay! I hope I actually get a good rain out of this one. The last few we've had, I just got light rain. I want a good downpour. Also, the temp drop would be nice. It's still about 90 here.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Would Ulysses have a chance today?

This is one of my favorites. Once I figured out how to read it, I loved it. Also Eco has a wonderful essay on it, and I enjoy him too.
