Do not dis the bacon in the salad. Unless of course you are a vegetarian, in which case return said salad to the server.

Un-baconed salads are much easier to get outside the South. I once went to a restaurant in Louisiana and tried to find something vegetarian on the menu. I went through every possible option on the menu and was told that every one of them had meat in some form. So I ordered a salad, and had to go through the whole list of dressings before finding one with no meat.
As for portion sizes, yeah. When I go out to eat here, I usually end up with enough leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day.
You eat the salad, I'll eat the bacon.
Salad gross. Bacon nummy.

There are salad dressings with meat in them? This just makes me think of Python. FWIW, in defense of this poor humble land, I never have a problem with meaty salads.
I think it may be possible that any savoury food is improved by bacon. Possibly some sweet foods as well.
Bacon in dressing I can see, but I'm stumped for what other meats you'd want to put in there.
But then, I prefer my salads with no dressing at all anyway. And I'm ususally amused (having been there) at how upsetting that is to many waitresses. Sometimes I order dressing on the side just to make them feel better.

Emeril's in New Orleans has a mixed baby green salad with goat cheese, candied almonds, and an andouille sausage vinagrette.
I don't know if they serve spotted dick in the pub in Avebury (which I think is the Red Lion-- I ate there myself only months ago, I should know the name, at least), but it sounds likely. And it would be delicious if they did. It's a good pub.
They do, it is, and it's yummy. Their mushroom soup cures teenaged boy's stomachaches. I can't wait to go back.
We just had Empty Places last night. Can't believe there's only three to go. What does one do at the end?
I can't wait to go back.
Give me a few years to get organised. I'll meet you there.
